Apple Music

Interesting.. I've been trying out Deezer but the biggest problem seems to be data usage is huge on Deezer and small on Apple Music.

How is usage on Google Music?

Google Music caches everything when you favourite or play a track on WiFi, so it never uses mobile data unless you select it to.

Also it saves cached data, so you can play the same track or playlist later with data turned off.

It's the best I've used so far.

I've used Deezer, Simfy and Apple Music. They all pale in comparison.

Google offers far better curated playlists, less repetition of the same artists and same songs all the time, and a lot more music to choose from

This is the best part. Search for a song or artist, then scroll to that song or artists 'radio' playlist. sorted. The playlists are awesome and seem randomly (but accurately) generated, so little repetition.

Nothing beats this.

The desktop app is great (supports media keys on Mac, Windows or Linux).

Can you download a single song from Google Play Music yet? Was a big issue of mine, all I want is one song from the album, not the entire album

I have been using spotify free for a while as they had music that Apple and Google didnt, live albums and such BUT see that Google has actually caught up SO will be giving them a try, I like their app as well so far.

Just search for the song and download?

All streaming services offer single track downloads.

When it launched it wasnt intuitive to download a single track. There was no obvious button. All I could find was the button to download the entire album. My flatmate at the time tried to prove me wrong, only to realise he couldn't do it

When you add a track to a playlist or your library, it downloads it to your device.

I see! See, that's the confusing part. The options menu for am album has a "Download" option, but for a single song, it doesn't. So to me, I can't download it... But if what you're saying is true, that I can select "Add to library" and that downloads the song, then I may move over. Really don't like the Apple Music app on Android....

Also, when I click and album, nothing happens? Not sure if my phone is giving me issues, or the app is....

I forgot to mention I was paying for 5 licences - hence the R89 pm.

Try out Google Play Music. 3 months free trial. ;)

But does Google Play even offer any form of Family Sharing?

Otherwise the price comparison is hardly fair.

Yep.

A single account can hold up to 10 devices.

Family plan up to 60 devices (10 devices per account) @ $14.99.

Seems like a great deal to me.

Interesting, because my biggest issue with Google was always the lack of "interconnectedness" with plans.

$14.99 is very expensive though for something that costs less than half the price on the Apple side of life.

The SA version of Google Play Music only has the individual option for now.
