Apple Notes sync driving me nuts

Try copy all your notes from the device that has all of them into Text edit then delete them from notes, see if they all disappear from all devices. Then paste them all in your notes.

PS, you do have the notes slider enabled under icloud settings right?

He has reported some of them are syncing, just not all of them.

Being a new device I wonder if it’s not just some case of rate limiting and it will settle down over a few days by itself.

How would I check that? The iPad is a Wi-Fi only model so not applicable as far as I know?

Our Wi-Fi is still down, all day already. I haven't tried resyncing today as a result. I've logged a support issue and once it's up again tomorrow, I'll give it another shot. Been running on a mobile signal today.

I've had the device about 2 weeks now, surely it would've settled down by now?

Maybe a temporary solution use WhatsApap?

I use for synced notes, juet sign in on anything you need them on

It would restrict iCloud syncing quite heavily.

Also what kind of WiFi? That in itself could be a problem if it’s one of these shitty “local is Lekker” Wisp things from a fly by night company.

Nope, low data mode is off.

Once our Wi-Fi is back online again I can give it a try again. Unfortunately, we don't have many options for high speed internet access on farms. My provider is a largish company that covers most of the Karoo, Northern Cape and southern Free State. They also do many of the rural road network security cameras.

Speeds are around 7 - 9 mbps via a few antenna links. It's fine for my use but nowhere near what you guys in the city are used to. We were upgraded to (occasional) 4G mobile signal about 3 months ago.

Thanks, messaging the note to myself via WA?

All the workarounds or alternative apps are clunky though. I'm going to see what happens once our Wi-Fi is back online today. It may be an issue with degraded connectivity prior to the connection being lost totally on Saturday night.

See my post above about rural internet challenges.

Yeah i wonder if the issues with undersea cables aren’t just at play here and then an extra slow link on top it.

Would explain why some of it has synced. Just not all of it and fits into the the timeline perfectly.

Damn, I really hope that cable issue is the cause. Our wi-fi has been restored. signed the iPad out of iCloud, full of hope. Alas, at sign in, I now have even less Notes synced to the iPad than the previous week of effort.

I've spent way too much time dicking around with this crap now. I could've written all my damn notes into a pocket book and bought a new friggin' pencil already. I'm going to take a break from this crap for a while and see what transpires. I have an appointment in a large town on Friday. Will take the iPad along and see if a good internet connection makes any difference.

I'll keep you guys updated.

Just leave it alone and stop resetting it.

Plug it in tonight so it can do its thing overnight and report back in the morning.

OK, although I may need to edit the thread title from "nuts" to "crazy". Hopefully we don't get to "beserk", or even "insane" level.

Well I'll be damned. That worked! :p All notes synced, present and accounted for this morning. Thanks for all the help and advice posted here guys, much appreciated.

Excellent news.

Something to remember is that iCloud sync is rate limited or entirely stopped depending on battery levels etc, so if you leave it plugged in then it goes full bore.
