Apple removes Epic's developer account

.
Oh gosh ... it's about how Apple made Spotify into what they are & how awesome Apple is in everything they do  They keep dreams alive .

This may be something @neoprema wants to print out for bed time reading

" ... have helped make them one of the most recognizable brands in the world ... a large part of their success is due to the App Store ... We’re proud to play a key role supporting Spotify’s success ... Starting out as a small startup in Stockholm, Sweden, Spotify has grown their company into the largest digital music business in the world (because of iOS) ... and thanks in part to the App Store, eclipsed every other digital music business in the world ... Every day, teams at Apple work to keep that dream alive'

as well as

".. and pays Apple nothing for the services that have helped make them one of the most recognizable brands in the world ... Despite that success, and the App Store’s role in making it possible, Spotify pays Apple nothing ... And there are many more ways Apple creates value for Spotify, at no cost to their company ... And again — Spotify pays Apple nothing ... benefit from the trust we’ve built with users — and to pay Apple nothing for it"
Apple has long maintained a perfect balance of blending humanity with business. They know how to deliver services that brings humans closer together, keeps them safe, and benefits the greater good that makes us all like one big family on this planet. But they also do it while driving a growing and successful business. Spotify owes a lot to Apple and Apple will never demand it back in full.

Apple just gives us all that warm fuzzy feeling we love so much :)

It is futile to try and convince an apple user otherwise - they made a substantial investment. I am well aware of that. But for the sake of this argument, you can consider two camps of people.

1) It is my money and I spend it entirely for my benefit right now. I demand immediate gratification.
2) It is my money and I spend it balanced between my benefit and the long-term impact this vote with my wallet has.

Sure, the iphone is nice and if you are already in the ecosystem why would you want to change? So what if their behaviour is utterly anticompetitive. This is a nice VW, I'll buy it. So what if they gassed a bunch of monkeys and cheated on diesel emmisions for decades. Boy these telkom mobile deals are the cheapest around, who cares if they held back the entire country and did not even what the internet in SA. Would you look at that single thread performance, this intel chip is the best, who cares how much power it sucks down, that CO2? LOL, CO-no-thank-you-AMD. Who cares if they paid Dell millions to not use AMD. This old VIA computer does not have 64-bit support but why install the latest Debian x86 on it when I can just stick to bloated old Windows 10 32bit? I can go on and on and on....

See what I am getting at? Basically, your typical apple user is akin to an ANC voter.

While it may seem futile, if everyone thinks a little further than their own wallet it could have a good impact. I was a Nokia user for a long time, but then they lost the plot, so I bought a used Galaxy S1 to see what all the hype was about. After my second second-hand Samsung they got too big and expensive, so I tried a LG Nexus, but I did not like the way google was steering things in, so I went with an upcoming Chinese company called Huawei. I found after a couple of years they were not providing updates in a timely fashion due to their apple-cloned-UI so I hoped over to Motorola, which was great until Lenovo got hold of them. Maybe x86 is a better idea than ARM so I had a Asus Zenphone - it was OK - but there was the intel factor I was not comfortable with. Next I tried HMD and their Nokia revival and then Xioami. Right now after 5 years of Xiaomi I think I might give Motorola another go.

If you could just think a little further than your own wallet right now - that would be great. There are many options and we do not all have to be the same. This is not school anymore and we do not have to wear the same uniform from the same manufacturer just because it works.

Lol it's even worse on mobile. You're just farting in the wind.
If every choice fell away simply because it wasn't the most chosen, the world would be very dull. It would kill off most innovation and the space would stagnate (the mobile phone space is already in a state of stagnation).

On iOS, there is no choice - no matter which browser you're using, its just the Safari web engine with a different skin on top. And it shows, right? Safari lags behind the other browsers in terms of web standards because it doesn't need to complete. There's no choice but to use it on iOS.

It's not like Firefox is much better looking at this https://caniuse.com/?compare=safari+17.4,firefox+123,ios_saf+17.4,and_ff+123&compareCats=all.

Just block your games from working on IOS or MACOS.

Long ago almost no one made any games for Apple. Thus many refused to buy Macs. Do it today and Apple will loose a lot of clients. All those streamers.

Do you think that Apple owes a lot to Spotify ?

I think Apple were running their 'pay per song' on iTunes which was cool in the early 2000s - but then Spotify turned things on it's head with it's streaming business model which Apple later adopted?

I think if Spotify get's on to launch it's HiRes Lossless, it'll have a decent edge over Apple Music as you'll likely be able to use it with relative ease.

Apple Music is by far easier to use and ties into the Apple ecosystem very well. Spotify is not bad, i'll give them their due they may one day be similar to Apple although Apple Music just keeps on getting better year on year.

Oh no ... it's terrible with the restrictions and rules and limitations imposed .

I don't tie in with their ecosystem well at all ?
Apple TV 4K can't play the highest tier?
macOS can't auto change sampling rate?

Oh, sorry you're mistaking me for a producer at an orchestra (who prob also uses Mac anyway).

No I listen to music for enjoyment and fun. I don't care that its getting 1.2Khz less than it could have or that its Spatial Audio not ultra lossless 8GB-per-minute streaming :) I want the functionality, ease of use and quality and i'm getting all of that so i'm happy to pay Apple for it.

oh ... a casual background music listener?

If you're not into anything amazing & happy with average, then it's cool, I guess

more heavy bass. I am very biased towards EDM, Dubstep, Dance etc - and i like bass a lot :)

Was I the 20-yr-old in the ultra-high sneakers at raves enjoying all the colors back in the day... well, who knows eh?

On another note, i actually am using Spotify more now. A friend of mine is sharing a dynamic playlist and doesn't have Apple Music. So I bought a Spotify subs so I can listen to his stuff he chooses as he's really good at picking awesome EDM tracks. I feel like I have to apologize to Apple sometimes
:)

If you give apple any of your money - you are supporting crime. That company has been up to no good since the start.

Buying an iphone is the same as buying stolen goods. You are enabling criminal behaviour.

Sjoe Roe!
Hoeveel bier vat dit om jou so seker van jou saak te maak?

@Hush9300

Do you remember our whole discussion about guidlines in the Apple Vision and Netflix article ?
I mentioned the guideline and interference by Apple?
And you couldn't understand what that meant because you had your Apple glasses on?

Take off the glasses & read the article

Please don't involve me in your rhetoric.

These are well known gripes and many which have been addressed already but seeing as you're flogging dead horses. Here goes...

  • Siri Launches on the iPhone, but won't pay Spotify (Addressed by Apple many moons ago)
  • When Apple launches their new Apple Watch, they dismiss our proposals and won’t work with us to develop an app for it (If I recall correctly Spotify wanted to develop a streaming app - not even Apple's inhouse app has streaming privileges favourite songs and last played are downloaded on device)
  • Now that Apple has Apple Music, rejections of the Spotify app start becoming more and more common, and they even go as far as threatening to remove us from the App Store (This is just nasty)
  • We submit a new proposal for a streaming app directly on the Apple Watch. Apple declines. (See above - makes no sense at all)
  • With WatchOS 4, Apple continues to make it challenging for us to deliver a workable streaming solution for the Apple Watch (3 points addressing the same issue?)
  • Apple rejects Spotify app again (So what? Apple rejects many apps... Are Spotify supposed to get special dispensation?)
  • Apple HomePod launches without Spotify support (Addressed by Apple where Siri defaults could be selected - As it stands Spotify still haven't opted in)

Regarding the gripe about the pricing and payment processing fees, I'm firmly in the camp which believes that Apple should be compensated for the market that they've created but the likes of Epic and Spotify want free or cheap access to said market. Now we could debate what a fair rate would be but it certainly isn't free or the sweet deal of 4% that Spotify negotiated with Google

All that said, there is a simple solution here... Just don't develop for iOS like countless others do but we know they won't because the Apple user base is such that doing so will eat into their bottom-line.

You just didn't understand or didn't want to understand - so I thought maybe you needed a bit of education on the topics that you like to comment on without understanding :)

Did you read the link or just commenting on the few points ?
You should read before you comment?

Jeez get a room.

I have a I phone but don't want to suck Apple off.
