Apple SA debate heats up

I am, to say the least not an apple fan. I think the Computer brand has lost the war and it needs to be put out of its misery. Anything an apple can do, a PC can do at half the price, twice as fast and with reliability to match.
 
Now I understand why so many guerrilla fighters in Africa have iPods these days ... they get them free with bulk arms purchases ... :D
 
Apple sort ur SA operation out or else lose a market.
Personally I like CAB, store is stunning and service spot on vased on my ipod experience.

Anyway interesting to find that this is the case with Apple "agents" but not unsuspected. Typically another SA company screwing the public consumer. Why the outcry? We allow it by willingly partaking in this Natinal consumer rape schemes in all spheres. We are arguably the worlds worst willing consumer whores.

I bought a MacBook 13" brand new for under R10k in December 2006. There was no PC laptop with equivalent spec anywhere near it price wise.

It's been two and a half years and all I did was put more RAM and a bigger HDD into it and it still makes any computer using Windows look stupid. I have not had any viruses, or BSOD's, or had to take it in for any repairs at all.

It will probably serve me for at least another two years before I feel the need to change it. How many Windows laptops do you think I owned in the 5 years prior to getting my Mac? I'll tell you exactly: R35k's worth and they are all dead now.

Maybe if you had ever used a Mac you'd change your tune, but I guess you prefer to just draw aspersions.

2006 I seem to recall a lot of 14" PC laptops. I've never understood why Apple produced such a small display. I guess they had to save on something.
 
RJ van Spaandonk has an article in The Weekender. Justifying his twitter rants, and the high apple prices, strange that he has influence with major newspapers too....

I am sorry but R7500 (ZA) as opposed to R5400 (US - after adding VAT of 14%) for a Mac Mini just doesn't cut it. Even using that excuse for a windbag's 9.1 forward rate and you still get R6215 (US) after adding VAT.

FFS, you can buy the thing cheaper in the UK (R6462) with their labour costs. I was really keen to get a Mac a while back but will never get one here while Core have the distributorship. Apple, if you even remotely give a hoot, we wanted to build software for your systems but thanks to Core, we decided against it.

As a purchaser of high end Sony and Panasonic video gear I have a right to bash Sony.
Of course when I bash a company I bash them with facts while others
defend them with nonsense (and throw in racist remarks too - which considering Sony is mostly owned by the Japanese seem very illogical).

I've already said that either Apple is selling expensive stock to Core and Core is not to blame and then Apple is screwing us - Thank you Mr Jobs - OR
Core is screwing us.

Either way my 3 year old Mac Pro is running fine here, won't need an upgrade for a loooong time.

Apparently we are all too dumb to understand his sophisticated communications or to understand the nuances of the "context" he was tweeting in.
We also don't understand vat, import duties or basic maths, unlike the "great RJ", we just don't get it - after all, it was just a bit of fun.

Seems to be real fun when we're expected to believe the load of BS spouted by RJ and suck up the 13:1 exchange rate he inflicts on us is a reasonable one.

Seeing that my plan was going nowhere, I decided to pull all the updates from my page, thinking this would be the end of it. But, a twitterer with an axe to grind had taken a screenshot of the first half of my exposé; indeed the part where I deliberately passed myself off as a ranting and raving idiot. A contrived blog entry was created around it, ranking first in Google searches of my name, and which now serves as a fitting testament to a misguided Tuesday morning experiment on the fringes of Web 2.0.

How many of them had Core 2 Duo Intel processors and cost less than R10k at the time?

None of them. The closest I could find was retailing at about R14k.

BTW, I use a 22" external monitor on my MacBook, but prior to that I didn't have any issues with the Apple screen (which incidentally made things look a look better than any of the previous laptops I had, including 2 Toshibas, a Dell, a Mecer, an HP and a Sahara).
