I know that the Apple fans may be excited about this, but I think this time it really is overkill regarding the hype. A tablet is not a particularly special device, and with so many tablets which were launched recently I hope Apple have something really spectacular to add to the current range of devices.

Apple is capable of turning a non-special devices into a special device envied by the competition. Before the iPhone, a touch screen phone was nothing special, now it is a must for all smart-phone makers.

Did you see how different manufactures tried to scramble last minute tablet devices at the CES show?

I have never owned apple device(not that I can't afford them), but these guys know how to design creative sexy devices.

I am holding out for the MS Courier.
now THAT looks cool.

Apparently it'll be a large iPod Touch, which will be rather spectacular.

Exactly the same with the mp3 player and iPod.

Yeah it's not really the tablet itself, but rather the publishing revolution which should follow which will be interesting.

Also, imagine it's potential as a gaming device.

You took the words out of my fingers.

I don't disagree that there is massive hype, I don't disagree that it gets annoying... I think that there is certainly cause to believe this will be awesome.

Even if it is simply a giant iTouch running full OSX there are bound to be a couple of clever little twists and turns that will make it stand out.

I'll eat my words if this is not the case but history shows that it is more than likely to be the case.

This is just what the world needs, another junk gadget to carry around

Competition made Netbooks affordable. The same will happen to the Tablet. I like the Apple idea for the competitive aspect!

If it's a bigger version of the iphone (without the phone) and smaller than the 13" mac, I think it will be stunning. Knowing apple, it will stand out from the rest. I cannot wait to see it...

Apple have the iStore, which the competition doesn't have.
So one would expect that all the apps, movies, tv shows etc, that you get there will be usable on their tablet.

It's almost certainly going to be a 10.1 inch device based on all the orders apple has made for 10 inch screens.

Gaming News Apple Tablet set to revolutionise gaming?

A gaming device?

Interestingly, Apple is inviting leading videogame journalists in the US, with Kotaku reporting that it has received its invite to the launch.

Can't wait.
I think it is really going to be awesome. The way I imagine it is that it is basically half macbook, half iPod Touch. So you get OSX Snow Leopard and the appstore. Hoping that iBooks comes with it

My iphone and macbook are good enough for me, don't see the need for another gadget.
