Apple TV 4 - Apps, Tips & Tricks

I am looking in getting a streaming device to stream Netflix. Since we have apple across our household I am thinking of the ATV4 but am not sure if anyone has any issues streaming a South African Netflix account through ATV4?

Hey, you won't have streaming Netflix through the ATV4, have one myself and I have no problems. Just depends on your internet connection.

Just to clarify you don't get a South African Netflix account. You have one Netflix account, and the content is just dependent on what region you login under. So if you're in the US and sign in there you'll get the US catalog.

Thanks so much, :) apologies, am still new to streaming. So to understand one can use ATV 4 to stream Netflix, just depends on your internet speed. Is it difficult to set up by following the instructions?

No worries. I never knew the regions either until a couple of months ago.

Very easy to setup. 15min and you'll be done.

Mine did this too.. a quick reboot sorts it out, usually because they do some sort of background update.. weird because my iPhone rarely suffers like this. 2nd or 3rd time I've seen this so I know to just reboot
 
I have series stored on onedrive, what would be easiest way to stream the contents to my TV.

On 10mb line. Apple Tv 4.

Not at all, I have ways to get the stuff not available on netlfix directly downloaded to onedrive without using any of my bandwidth.
I just dont have the hdd space to download then store locally, makes sense to leave the items there on onedrive or dropbox and stream.
 
I didn't want to start a new thread ... But just wanted to check if iTunes have a local store to rent without jumping through hoops to fake country?

Where would I be able to see a list of movies?

EDIT : Ok I downloaded iTunes ... I see they have Rand values, so can browse and rent local content. R45.00 though, so a bit more than Box Office

WHat does this mean, regarding the download of 720?

I think HD rentals are R45 and SD rentals are R35.
 
And the 720 downloading part?
Do they usually get new movies like Box Office?

That download setting can be controlled in iTunes under preferences. It will download according to your selection.

And yeah, movies are available the same time as Box Office. Often before when they have early release.
 
Yesterday our our ATV4 remote relocated from the sofa's armrest to the floor, but slightly too rapidly. Photos of its shattered touch surface can be admired here: https://cpbotha.net/2017/02/16/the-apple-tv-4-remote-nickname-achilles/

Anyways, wefix doesn't repair them. Is there anyone else that can?

(I'm probably going to have to get a new one. It just seems like such a waste to replace the whole unit when in theory only the glass + digitiser has to be replaced.)
 
Not sure why they went with glass.. my samsung touch remote is metal and just always worked well.. no worry about shattering.
 
I purchased a UDID provisioning profile and signing certificate for my ATV4.

Compiled the latest popcorntimeTVOS version using XCode - works well, but torrent streaming chews data.

Even better: Kodi 17 Krypton works like a dream. Installed SchismTV/Demitrology all-in-one for Exodus / Zen / Bob add-ons and managed to get real debrid working for reliable HD streams. This is TV/Movie Utopia.
