Apple wireless charging patent filed

Im also not finding references to radiation with Tesla`s wireless power. I just see oscillators and stuff mentioned :confused:

IMO JStrike was just going off on a tangent.

All of these implementations create magnetic fields, they just seem to reduce the field nowadays by tuning the equipment better.

But Tesla may have done some tuning as well.
 
Interesting article ! Of course this isn't prior art, just as pinch-to-zoom and slide-to-unlock wasn't.

If they were using the same technique, then possibly. But they aren't

Dont tell Jstrike about our Earths magnetosphere if he is worried about magnetic fields. But going through the information I have on Tesla (and I am sure its incomplete), there is absolutely no mention of him working with radioactive substances (which produce radiation) to get his tower working.

The Alliance For Wireless Power, which also touts long-range juicing, will no doubt be comparing Apple's designs to its own blueprints... Apple's patent application was filed in November 2010, before the alliance was established, but well after tech startup WiPower applied for its patent on the very concept of wireless charging in 2008. I guess you must have been really confused when they invented wireless internet :)

That is something else all together....almost completely made possible and useful by the existence of batteries and charging in the first place.

This is not the same implementation. Unless Apple wants to get sued to oblivion by giving their customers cancer

Wasn't that a fabrication by Edison so they would make use of his technology instead?

If I recall they were ready to implement it but then found out that it was impossible to regulate due to it's nature and therefore impossible to bill and they wouldn't make any money.

Tesla basically wanted free power for everyone everywhere.

I was just thinking of a practical solution for me. This week when I was driving back from Cape Town... my battery on my phone went dead so I had to charge it on a car charger. Which had a short cord, which was very limiting.

You should also see the back of my desk. A ton of cables that dont need to be there in the future. Wireless power is most definitely the future. Im also thinking how useful something like this might be for future electric cars. Go park at a shopping center and while its parked, it starts charging automatically. What you can do with this technology is almost limitless.

I think I should go make an American patent. Patent wireless data communication and charging on the same circuit (we already can transmit data over power lines, so this is another logical step). Apple will probably read this post and pretend they invented this (like they have pretended they have invented everything else).

Power transmission without cables has the side effect of radiation. Most of these modern solutions achieve "wireless power" via induction

Nah don't get me wrong, I'm not saying don't do the R&D.

But I just find this is sort of a half way solution that tries to solve a problem that doesn't really exist.

You are still going to retrofit some or other device in your car to have your phone charging from it...so chances are until you buy a new car that comes with this built-in you'll have something sticking out of your 12v socket that still has a short cord...just running to a charging base of sorts instead of directly into your phone.

Guess we'll have to wait on Apple to release the final product before we get too excited.

Yip, Samsung in fact hold a patent for wireless charging through Qualcomm who filed for it in 2008, Good luck Apple!!

No. Actually Nikola Tesla had it in 1891. If it wasn't for greedy bastards like Thomas Edison and his financial backers this technology would have been implemented a century ago.

P.S. Try not to call people idiots when you are on par.
