Apple wireless charging patent filed

The difference between Apple’s application and other wireless charging technologies is that Apple’s patent doesn’t require physical contact between a device and a charging mat.

That's how I always understood wireless charging to work!!

A charging mat is a gimmick, whereby you replacing a conventional cabled charger with a cabled charging mat on which the device must rest in order to charge.

Oh goody, more patenting of prior art !

Prior art?
There are a couple of wireless charging solutions out there, but most require contact. And all operate differently.
So where's the prior art?

I honestly don't see why people have such a need for this technology.

Is it that much trouble to plug the cable in? I mean at the end of the day even with wireless charging you are still going to plug something into the wall socket...so if you are plugging in one end...why not just plug in the other while you are at it?

I guess you must have been really confused when they invented wireless internet :)

Tesla demonstrated such a device in 1891.

Yeah, the radiation was awesome.
This is not the same implementation. Unless Apple wants to get sued to oblivion by giving their customers cancer

Im also not finding references to radiation with Tesla`s wireless power. I just see oscillators and stuff mentioned
