While i'm not a big Apple fan, i must say i'm not a fan of Amazon's Kindle pricing either , so it would be good to see some more competition in this space.
The real question is what will us South Africans get out of this? Even if they sell this here, will we actually get access to the ebooks? Amazon is already restricting SA from alot of the available ebooks, and this is based on our crappy local publishers not sorting out deals. Bunch of lazy greedy monopolists in this country.
And remember, where are Apple making their money? ITunes......ultimately i'm sure Apple is going to go for a similar thing if they were to launch an ipad. Their Ebook-store is where things will happen, not the actual device

. As the article clearly illustrates, even publishers are holding back e-books in anticipation for this, they want to make deals, they probably don't like Amazon's terms and are willing to take their exclusivity to Apple...
So in the end, we might have alot of devices, but only one place where you can truly shop. If we [SA] are cut off from this shop, we are screwed.
