What about IQonn, not only monitors stats, but battery level, signal strength and controls all online connections like WiFI too. It is a connection manager that lets you travel and automatically detect and use different hardware and different cell companies.

I'm new to 3G and to this forum and found alot of reliable info here. I downloaded Netlimeter. Works perfect. Better than the dashboard that installs with VMC Lite.

These guys are really clued up around here.

Thanks for the help and tips.

If your device is supported you should check out the MDMA tool (sticky in the MTN forum) as well :)

Good Old Netmeter - In Need of Replacement

Hi there guys.

I used NetMeter for my bandwidth control. I noticed that on Vista it only records upload and not download. The program is incompatible with Vista. The developer of the program said on his website that he has no plans of updating it as of yet.

Now I need a replacement for NetMeter that is similar in functionality and just as accurate. I am hoping to get something that looks more or less the same, or even a gadget I can add to the gadget bar.

Can anyone point me in the right direction please?

Thanks in advance.

1 - I have been using the program for quite some time and I know how it works. I have tried everything

2 - I know Vista sucks but it came on the laptop I purchased.

3 - Thanks!

I've had a look at a couple of these apps & cant find one that can just monitor internet traffic & not all traffic going thru a LAN or W/LAN, are any capable of this?

In the way you say it, no.

Internet reaches you via something. That something is a device. Monitoring programs are written to monitor such devices.

In the vodacom case, you monitor your modem.
Because i remember you have a network, this monitoring can only be done by the host of the device.

I am using Bitmeter to monitor my upload/download speeds and usage, but have noticed that as far as usage goes, it's very inaccurate when compared to the Cell C balance enquiry on their web or their software.

What can I use that would reflect my monthly usage better?

These posts are quite a few years old. Are these still the recommendations?
Secondly- Vodacom sends an sms to warn you when your data is getting low, to the number of the sim card, which I only see when I reload. Is there a way to change the number to where they send the sms too-I would obviously use my usual cellphone number to receive these sms's (I use this sim card exclusively for data). Btw, I have a Huawei E3531 data stick.

I hear that Kaspersky anti virus has a data usage warning feature now as well.

Wonder if it is accurate?

1. MDMA should be able to terminate connection when data counters are reached. Not a challenge to implement such feature.
2. MDMA detects incoming SMS, but we can't read SMS in MDMA. It would be helpful if MDMA would parse SMS strings for some keywords and terminate connection accordingly.

However I see problem in approach #2, as Vocacom notification service is completely unreliable. In addition, triggers are intentionally set to the values which do not help at all. What is a point of settings trigger that Night OWL data is less than 400MB? It doesn't make any sense.
