Applying for Mauritian Passport

Going on holiday to Mauritius soon and wondering what I would need to bring to apply for my Mauritian Passport.
 
Why not just apply at the embassy here?

I did not know that. I would have been in the line for one ages ago.
Imagine.... I will work for shoes.

"A South African citizen cannot have dual citizenship, in other words, be a citizen of two countries at the same time. The original citizenship will automatically be cancelled if a person is granted citizenship of another country"

My mums Mauritian so can't I apply for a passport.Im confused :o :cry:

You should be able to get a Mauritian passport, I see no reason why you wouldn't be able to since your mothers Maurituan. Just go to the Mauritian consulate and query there, they will be able to advise you.

It is possible and legal. I hold dual citizenship.. you just need to have a permission letter from the embassy/home affairs.. whoever..

Joh now I want to live and study in Mauritius for a year or two(we own a cottage) Just thinking what work I can do...hmmm
 
You can have a passport from a country and not be a citizen of that country. Having a dual citizenship is something different.

You could what? Become a citizen? Yes you can. But having a passport does not automatically make you a citizen. And tho it is possible to become a dual citizen, Guvment don't like it and will give you a hard time.

How the hell do you become a dual citizen then? I don't want to give up my SA one because I would be stuffed if things go wrong.

EDIT:I would not be stuffed

You have to get the passport, then jump thru a whole lot of hoops for the Mauritian Govmnt. I have no idea what those are, but for the uk you have to live and work there for 2 years among other things.
