Aramex global shopper

Paid R1,211 for an item on Aliexpress. Cancelled it the next day and refunded R1,115 about a week later.

Unlike Amazon where the full amount was refunded (transaction cancelled.).

Recently bought a steelseries headset from the US amazon store and must admit I was very impressed with Aramex (excluding the jhb office mail service which doesn't reply however everything is electronic and the app/website works 100%)

Steelseries Arctis 1 Wireless Headset = 75$ + 6$ (tax/vat added not included until you check out)

Shipping was Calculated= R 414.00 (thought it would be less but got my weight wrong, box with cables is way more than the internet states)

Customs Vat = 85$ x 17 x 15% =R 216
AGS Clearance NT = R 50

Total Cost = R 2125

Bought on the 9th of August arrived at Aramex NY on the 11th of August and was delivered to my office on the 21st of August.

At the time cheapest price in SA was R 2600 so I fell it was work it.

Buying a mouse from Amazon UK now so curious to see how it works out but generally must say the service works really well especially if the product is not available or overpriced in SA.

Is anyone else having problems with the Aramex Global Shopper app? ‘Failed to get user account’ and no packages showing in account.

So my package made it to SA, doe anyone know what customs you usually pay on a mobile phone?

8517.12 -
Telephones for cellular networks or for other wireless networks: 8517.12.10
Designed for use when carried in the hand or on the person
free (No Duty)

Correct me if I'm wrong - I haven't imported a phone since an iPhone 5, and I paid 9% on that + VAT of 14%.

I'm having a bad experience with them right now.

Package came late July, I'm not available at my usual work address due to covid, so sent them a request to change the address to my home one.

Package still gets delivered at work about a week later. This time I phone them and make sure the address is changed

Update on 22 July - shipment is on its way to final destination sorting facility

A long wait where I've escalated via both phone ("someone will contact you later today") and through the app and ship app(received a reply several weeks later "sorry for the delay, you parcel has been released from customs" even though it was out of customs over a month ago)

Today I get an update that it has been delivered. A while later I get a highly suspicious mail from Aramex where someone asked that I provide my address and no mention of the tracking number - they had some other reference number but it was completely different from any tracking or enquiry number.
Later I check the app and the package is in my history with a new "Delivered" entry backdated 24 July

Hi everybody,
I ordered from amazon.com and a few days after I receive an sms from "aramex" which asked me to enter additional information to speed up customs clearance. but my concern is that I already gave amazon my ID number and the site the sms wants me to use to put in the information is dodgy AF. http://onlineapp.aramex.co.za. The sms had the correct tracking number and my full name was correct.
My question is, did any one receive an sms like this? Should I ignore it? Is this a scam?

That is real.

I think you are referring to what I call the red email.
I only receive it if my shipment is going Slough UK.
It really irritates me as I have been with Aramex for years and they know my ID number and import code, so I think the email originates from the UK and not JHB.
It went from USA to Dubai sorting and now finally coming to south-africa. I was really worried that it was a scam so I didn't enter any information. But the website had all the correct information and you said it is real.

Why do you call it a red email? Is it a bad thing?
This is my first time using aramex so they dont have any info on me besides what amazon gave them.

The email is red in colour. It directs you to https://onlineapp.aramex.co.za/
I have had it so many times that my Chrome is set to autofill it.
Just a quick note - the above link is edited. If you click on it now you go to a neat Aramex tracking page. When emailed there is more to this link, taking you to a page where you are required to fill in more info.

I have another question. On the aramex website when I put in my tracking number, the address that it has there is completely wrong but it is in close proximity to my area (not address). When I put the address they have in there, google isnt sure where it is. Is the "sending to" address supposed to be my address? Or is it just going to a aramex warehouse or something along those lines?

Are you using Aramex GLOBAL SHOPPER? Seems like your questions are too general?
