Anyone tried to register for an importers code? With all the stuff I'm buying on Ebay I fear customs will probably start asking me for an importers code.

Look back on this thread. Very comprehensive guide on how to apply for importers licence is out there to be studied.Anyone tried to register for an importers code? With all the stuff I'm buying on Ebay I fear customs will probably start asking me for an importers code.
I really need to buy from the Ukraine, but can't use my AGS.
Does anyone have a recommendation? It is a tube with carbon fibre fabric. They can do $20 airmail or $40 EMS. None of which sounds like a good idea...
Why can't you use Aramex Germany? I see no problem with a carbon fibre tube.
Indeed. There will be shipping to Germany. No tax as parcel will be held at a bonded warehouse. We taxed on the value of the item + shipping. So I think your item value will be the item + shipping to Germany + Shipping to SA?
forgive me for asking what many others have most probably already asked:
i want a pair of boots from the US.
im a size 14 US/13 UK-so my size isnt easy to get here in SA.
now Amazon.com shows it as US$69.99.
what will i end up paying with shipping charges and customs?
any ideas?
PS- i dont think they ship this shoe directly to SA.
Customs expect to pay 40%
thanks...and what can i do about them not shipping the boots directly to SA?
strange..some items ship directly to SA & other very similar items dont ship to SA..
There may be Amazon shipping charges to New York, but probably not as it is over $30. HOWEVER, you will have 8% New York state tax added.forgive me for asking what many others have most probably already asked:

You can claim back (search this thread for the amazon refund email address), but it will take time.
So you have the following to take into account:
Price of boots
State Tax
Shipping to Aramex New York
Shipping to Aramex JHB
Customs duty of at least 40%
15% VAT added on total customs amount.
thanks...woh. thats going to end up being expensive.
what about if i get someone living in the US who can receive it & post it to a family member of theirs in Durban?
i may know of someone in Durban from the US..have to get hold of them & ask for the favour.
and if i manage to get that, how much will i pay?
would it be just the cost of the shoes & whatever shipping charges it incurs?
and whats the safest but cheapest way to ship it if i manage to get them to agree to help me?
sorry for the thousand questions.
Your family member can send a parcel to the New York address. Anyone can, and it will be processed as usual as long as it has your account # on the parcel.I already have an AGS account and have previously used it. I have a family member in the US that wants to send me a package. Can she mail it to my New York AGS address so that it reaches me. How do I tackle the customs and duties and also the invoice once it arrives as I would not have purchased the goods but are a gift. Please advise
I ordered 2 x Google Home Minis for $63 from Google USA.
Invoice I submitted shows the price as $100 with a $40 discount to $63 (with taxes).
AGS have said my Customs amount payable is R547.50 - can someone confirm if this is in the right ballpark?
If they stuffed up do I have any recourse?
