Arcade Game Project

Very nice, keep posting pics. Very interested to see how it's going to look.

Are you only using glue for the whole cabinet?

I'm using a mix of brackets and glue. I decided to glue (and use brackets) on the control panel because of the way it sticks out, I think its going to take some punishment with people leaning on it.
I'm technically making it for my kids, but my buddies are already arguing about who is going to kick who's ass in street fighter and who is the best at mario bro's :D.

Ok. Hectic day, 18 holes this morning and all afternoon in the garage.

Most of the assembly is done, just the board above the screen with the speakers in it.

and finally view into the cabinet via the back door.

Tomorrow I (hopefully) cut the speaker panel. Then its sanding to prep for the undercoat.

Then maybe I can put the first coat of paint by the weekend. Still need to decide on colour and theme. I'm leaning towards Super Mario Bros.

Absolutley Great Thread!!!!
Putting together a list for myself to play around with as well.
Nicely done RVZ, Cant wait to see the completed "MiniMe" Madman88 is building.

My UltraStiks arrived! It took less than a week.
They didn't come with any documentation tho. Somehow I thought they would come with instructions?
Maybe a stupid question, but how do I connect the buttons to it?

Edit: Ok Never mind I found the info on the website.

@RVZ
How did you make the button connections onto the pins on the joystick?

With the UltraStik Button / Encoder Harness, it's on the Ultimarc website. ;)

But you can make your own cable as well.

missed that :(

I guess I'm going to be making mine. Its not worth paying another $30 shipping.

You only use two points on the micro switch is that right? The bottom one and com?

I just have to organize two usb style plugs tomorrow:

I've been playing with the ultra sticks a bit, updating the f/w and such, and its awesome!
The latest f/w allows for a shift button, so it effectively gives you 15 buttons from the 8. I wonder if I can bind commands like volume and such to the shift keys?
Also played a bit with them in Mame. Mame detects them automatically, so no stressing with enabling them and stuff.
Very impressed.

Still trying to go through the list of more than 5000 roms to see which ones I am going to put on the machine.

So far:
Super Mario Bros
Mortal Combat (s)
Pac Man
Space invaders
1942
Double Dragon
Golden Axe
Metal Slug (none of the ones I have work tho, I need to find CHD's for them)

Any other suggestions?

RVZ - which plans did you use? Did you design the cabinet around the TV? I've seen a few plans on the net and a 74cm looks like it just might not fit into the cabinet. Whats the actual size of the tube?

Didn't use any plans. I'll have to check for the size of the tube tonight.

RVZ, any chance of posting dimensions box? Would give me rough idea of how it should look, else ill take the tape measure down to the nearest games shop in town.
