Arcade Game Project

Ok I've completed the harneses and tested them:

I actually tried to play a few mame games with the just the loose joystick and the micro switches... didn't work. I'm getting impatient now.

The cabinet assembly is complete, I've just got to do some sanding and the primer can go on. Oh but I first have to fit the cooling fan in the door. I totally forgot about the fan. I was going to put it in the roof, but its glued in. I can take the door off tho, so the door it is.

just a quick question madman88 why limit your roms ? i was under the impression that you could put all the roms on ... or do you just want to put the best ones in for easy selection ?
 
yeah I would load all 7000 Mame Games + all sega 16-bit, nes, snes, ultra 64, you name it is there.
 
I highly recommend you add 2 pinball buttons to your rig and use virtual pinball or future pinball. It's quite a blast to play Star Wars or Jurassic Park pinball again.

Games I nominate for your setup that hasn't been mentioned yet :

On SNES I would also recommend Turrican I & II

I played Bubble Bobble just now and it was epic. I finished the game before with my boet in 2P mode.

There are just too many. Besides I would hate for my daughter to come across one of the riskier mame games bu accident. And I would like to be able to leave her to play on the thing when I'm not arround.
So if I could have a couple of different instances of mame in hyperspin then I would put all my fav's in one, all the safe ones in another, and bang all the rest in a third.
I think its possible, still doing the reading.
 
Does anyone here have a large collection of up to date roms for mame, snes, neogeo, N64, Cube/Wii, Amiga by any chance?

I have the latest full sets for Mame and Daphne.

Hmm... I have never heard of Daphne before. Are there lots of games for it?

Also how many roms in your mame collection?

Yup, unfortunately Happ is very expensive, especially with shipping costs. You can get cheaper coin doors elsewhere, I just couldn't find the one I wanted anywhere else.

Daphne is for all the laserdisc games like Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, Cliffhanger etc. There's not a lot of them, I have 18, I think it's all there is. They're all very big though, around 1GB each.

:( I'm missing about 3000 roms..

Damn. there was a flood on usenet recently and I managed to get up to P. I don;t think the others where posted. Didn't think there would be 3000 roms between Q and Z.
 
Been following your thread, good one, but if i may ask, how does one get these roms you speak of, and how does one play them?

You are legally only allowed to own the roms if you have the original arcade roms. So you will have to use 'other' means to acquire them off the usual places.

To play them you will need a arcade emulator. The most popular is mame

Thanks, i'll google what they are and how they work. Would be awesome to play Arcade games again.
