Came across these tools this weekend, of which the Glasnost one particularly interested me as it can "test whether BitTorrent is being blocked or throttled".

I gave it a whirl on my throttled account, and it told me 2 out of 5 connections were interrupted on the standard port and no data was transferred on a non-standard port.

I'd be interested to see other users' results. It only takes a couple seconds (minutes at most)... (don't believe the site, it definitely does not take 40 minutes.

Ahh sorry yes I think you are right, shaped not blocked.
Although when I was with them I could only get about 2k/sec on torrents so in my book thats "blocked".
I wonder if Iburst could be taken to court over that? They are blocking freedom to information.....

I do get spikes of full download speeds (50 - 70 KB/s) , obviously depending on the quality/quantity of the seeds. When i was uncapped (Friday).
Im still downloading the 3Gb patch for Aion and being capped i do get 5KB/s if the seeds are good .
Damn i hate capped internet. At this stage im just leaving my Bitcomet torrent aion patch download on 24/7 so the i can atleast get a chunk (even if its a small chunk) out of that download so i dont have to destroy my bandwidth on it next month.
Got about 2GB to go. Do you guys reckon you can download 2GB at 5KB in 16 days?
Where is those math-heads when you need them ? :P

what app are you using for p2p ?

eg. for Vuze = Tools > Options > Conection > Transport Encryption = Required encrypted transport (check Yes), Minimum encryption level = RC4.

This encrypts all the data being transferred via Torrent App = iBurst can not tell for sure what I am transferring.

IRG - encryption helps if the trackers can connect, my trackers just say "closed by peer" which prompted my investigation.

Dusk - did you try the link on my 1st page?

yip that is a downfall to encryption, but you just have to find the ones that work. Plus it keeps what you are downloading private.

I am not bothered to hide what i am downloading. The Aion client is legally free to download aswell as the VM images i sometimes download AND if i wanted to download evil mistresses in pink fluffy handcuffs holding whips then i will download it. To be frank , if the people at Iburst can solve my connection issues by checking my surfing and downloading habits , all power to them :P
I dont download illegal software so i have dont have to encrypt my downloads.
I am using Bitcomet to download my torrents.

Heh... you must send me that mistresses link...

To clarify though, I 'm not sure the filtering/blocking interrogates the tracker to determine legality, I would think it just says "block tracker.*" and "shape all packets"

But, as I said, I'm just assuming. I see a lot of reports of ISPs blocking P2P in its entirity overseas.

The encryption allows better speeds for P2P and torrents, as iBurst can not determine 100% whehter the data is P2p or not, due to the encryption. They definately 100% shape our connections... full stop!

You do know that those mistresses are just as illegal (Copyright infringement) as DL'ng copies of Microsoft Office?

So the entire youporn, pichunter website is illegal?
Or are you just phising for new websites to surf ? :P

I'd guess viewing the pics/video is legal (assuming the website owns the copyrights), but downloading them would be an infringement if there are any copyrights.

Either way, this thread is not to debate the legalities of anything. I was merely asking other iBurst users to use the link I originally posted.

Not using Torrents... After entered it and tried to download something, after that something started uploading at speeds that exceeding iBurst's theoretical limits without any notice or warning.
This put me off Torrents. Forever. So, watch your upload meter.

You can limit your upload speeds via your torrent downloader program settings.

Dusk, other point than bandwidth pulls me off is that my computer being searched at all.
