Was reading an article on Bitcoins donations and found this link to the 'Global Rich List'.

Not sure how the calculations are done and on what its based but gave me a complete different perspective on the '1%'

You can enter either your income or your 'wealth' and when done hit the button and see where you stand. Scroll down through all the sections, makes for some interesting reading.

EDIT: South Africa is almost right at the bottom of the country list in the country selection box.

vs. the R0.45 / hour Ghana rate. Scary indeed. Gives one a new-found appreciation of stuff.

Cant be right ...

Don't think its that far off when considering places like rural China, India, Indonesia. There should easily be around a billion to three billion people there who earn a pittance compared to what the average person here earns.

Consider the world population. America around 350m people, Europe another 300m odd. So it should not be that difficult to get in under say the first billion if you earn an average or higher income here.

Forget 1%, I'm in the top 0.24%, and the 14,420,903rd richest person on earth.

Doesn't seem right though, and I think something similar to this was posted a while back...

We now know what you earn :D

5,498,381st richest person on earth by income.

Meanwhile, the average labourer in Zimbabwe makes just R2.89 in the same time.

Did they have to put it like that?

in the top 0.12% , 7 426 661st richest person on earth....

and the ghana thing seems off as well.

I agree, think there are a lot of assumptions and or thumb sucking involved but it does make a person realise that one is actually not that bad off when looking at the whole world population.
