Umm. Banks basically shut down over a weekend. Regardless, they can handle a lower volume, or zero, transactions on any day.

Unfortunately I still have to earn a living so I can't afford to miss a day of work. Unless the ANC MP's are prepared to be brave in the no confidence vote, status quo will remain, the NEC is firmly in Zumas pocket

Your friend is a bit naive. Now I'm not saying a march is a the way to go or likely to be effective, but they really should read a bit of history if they think that simply being a hard worker and blindly obeying the law is a solution.
 
Complete waste of time, as was the previous march.

Change needs to come from within the ANC. Won't happen though, cos JayZee has surrounded himself with lapdogs.
 
To anyone doubting the effectiveness of such a march, consider the following:

All it takes is 5% of the effective population to be 100% effective in overthrowing a government or corrupt regime. This has happened many times through-out history. Twice in Cairo.

The people vastly outnumber these few A.ssholes at the top that pull the strings of our demise and misfortune. This goes for governments, banks and other organisations.

One huge advantage this country currently has is that almost EVERYONE is against Zuma(With the exception of a few chommie loyalists). Internally most of the ANC is against him, all the other parties are against him, Cosatu is against him. Private sector companies are against him(Thanks for ruining the rand..) etc

So you have the opportunity, the power, the favor, and the backing of millions of others to change things. Unless sick or unable due to some extreme circumstance, you should rise up and take a stand. None of us wants this beautiful country to become Zimbabwe 2.0 serving a small elite(Zuptas) while the rest of the country and the RAND is in shambles, a future hell hole for ourselves, children, friends and family.

White or black, our goals are the same here, to bring justice. AMANDLA AWETHU. POWER TO THE PEOPLE

I live pretty close to a relatively volatile squatter camp. My kids are both going to granny on Friday and we are both going to work. That way if things go pear shaped we are a 5 minute drive away from them. If roads are not closed we can all go home. If they are closed we are all at least in the same area. Should I leave my wife (English) and kids home (2&8)? Or at grannies around an hour in normal traffic away from myself?

Sorry bud, I'd rather fix a machine than piss into the wind.
 
Our offices are also closing for the day but I'm not keen on getting shot or arrested when s*** goes south.

Some people even want to take their small kids along. Who are they going to blame when THAT doesn't turn out quite how they planned? o.O

I work for a major financial institution. They have permitted us to join the protest, provided a days annual leave is captured..
 
Apparently we can go March if we put in a days leave. Problem is my department is three guys doing 20 people's work and we're going live this weekend with a new storage solution :(

How about paying someone to be your proxy at the protest? Think about it. There are enough unemployed citizens that can't go due to money problems. Win-win situation

How many peaceful marches have there been that included the EFF? It could turn bad so quickly and then what.

However, what stops you from a long lunch? Not everything will be about joining a big mass rally; there are likely to be smaller groupings around the place.

You clearly missed the part where I said I get paid per hour. I'm not sacrificing pay for this.
