I'll most probably will also play on international servers, if all else fails...
South Africa’s biggest forum. Discuss, discover, and connect with thousands of members.

Great news!
Our server is up and running.
It's pretty empty right now but people seem to be shifting from the more popular servers do to random raiding and dino killing.
Its called SiC ARK Server.
Feel free to come down. 100 people cap PVP.
That's why carefully moderated servers will help.
There have been 10+ people transferred to our server because admins are abusing their powers. As well as people just base griefing.
I downloaded it yesterday, so excited to play it when I got this error:

Any advice?
EDIT: It keeps crashing at Obeliks?

@MDKza is your server running on a dedi or a VM?

SnowWar said:That is correct. My friends moved over there and so the regular playerbase started and more people are now joining.
Had a good chat with the admin(s). Very helpful and open to constructive input.
Basically the server itself and the people that play there seems to be there because of admin and player abuse on other local servers that just runs rampant.
The server has rules, so you can enjoy the PVE & PVP aspect in the right environment and if that can be enforced in the long run things will go great.
Here is to hoping for the best. Great work so far.
We are running a VM. We over spec'd the machine just to make sure there wouldn't be any issues.
Has there been any noticeable rubber banding yet? The server I'm currently on is also a VM and it is seriously bad ( more than 20 players ). The admins say it's the host but I'm pretty sure it's the VM ( apparently a Xeon E3, 32GB Ram ). ARK right now is a serious cpu hog and with CPU queuing on VM's it does not bode well for server performance.
Some people have said thats just the name of the game when it comes to survival titles such as this.
if thats the case, I wont be playing for too long. I reckon those guys will grief until somebody does it back to them, and then thats the last time they will play it. Players getting bored basically.
Which is why im thinking maybe a PVE experience would be a little better for me right now.
I don't think that is a server setup issue. I think that is the game. Have seen lots of support cases with that.
No, for sure it is the game but because the game is so badly optimized it is not, currently, suitable for a VM unless you are putting serious money into renting a high end server.
NAG which everyone is saying is one of the smoothest servers to play on is a full dedi server and I'm sure it's because ARK has all the cpu to itself.
Okay, I fixed my problem... My problem was corrupted files, I deleted it, and did verify local cache. I had a quick test, but did not play the game yet. Will be joining MDKza's server tonight!![]()

So after patching to v180.1 our server is using 50% less RAM and instead of over 80% on core 1 to about 50% on core 1.
We are using an average of 15% of the 8 core CPU we have given the server.
