The game is currently on a special until 22 June, so I will probably buy it next week. Yeah, everyone is complaining about the performance, but they are working on it.

Interesting fact: The game was released 2 June, and 400 000 copies were sold in that first week.

That special is the launch price. Don't be fooled by Steam marketing :p
 
Oh they fooled me alright! Okay, I'll definitely buy it next week...
Unfortunately I will only be able to play the game beginning next month. :(
That is when I have my build.

Absolutely! I downloaded jackfrags ARK videos and it looks breathtaking! Really, this is a unique game with lot of potential!

As jackfrags says: "10 out of 10 IGN-style!" :D

I will wait till official launch date but I do find it odd and slightly amusing that people are complaining about an alpha release
 
Official launch date is next year 2016! I cannot wait that long... True what you are saying, the videos that I watch about the gameplay looks more than playable and full of features. And I don't mind setting the graphics a little lower for time being, until a patch comes out and fix it.

EDIT: Steam Summer Sale is live, but the ARK stayed at the original special.

It's tempting to buy now but I don't want to be burned out on release. That's what happened with me and ESO.

But I am keen to try on console
 
I still new to PC Gaming + Steam, and my friend is also going to buy the game...
Everyone comments says it highly addictive, so I doubt you burn it out.
No harsh feelings, but ARK on console won't be near the same as on PC.
They'll have to reduce the settings.
And the world rendering, console is going to struggle hard!
I was a console gamer, but not anymore!
That price tag of the game would most probably be R799 or even more.

I have GTX 980M and can play it on high and few epic settings with perfect frames
 
JIMMYtheSKULL, I'll definitely join your server as soon as I get the game plus my new Gaming PC. If that is true what you are saying semaphore, I would be able to play on the same settings as you, if not higher... That includes Pitbull, because he has even a higher card than me. 800MB patch, that will be a lot of nice fixes! :)
 
I keep forgetting about the raptors, so they just keep man handling me.
 
Must say the latest patch from the weekend improved my frame-rate quite a bit, but still stuck on low settings for now. Been able to play bf4 on high so haven't needed to upgrade my GPU (gtx 580). Would like to play the game in its full glory, but so far I'm happy to be able to play at least, because its DINOSAURS!!! Yeah I'm a sucker when it comes to stuff with dinosaurs. So where does everyone play that is more focused on PvE. I started playing on the Red Faction ZA server. So far having a blast exploring the island and the scares for turning around from dragging a coel out of the water just to see a Megaledon right behind you on the beach.
 
Not sure if people are interested but as soon as you can save characters my clan and I are going to host our own password protected server so we can control who gets access. Closed community survivors are the best and most rewarding to play.
