Wtf are army going to do? Are the saboteurs storming the Eskom compounds and they need to defend it?

The sabotage is happening by the people working there, and is often a small but critical "mistake" that happens. Unless the army are watching the employees and contractors do their job 24/7 and understand the different between what they should be doing and shouldn't be doing, I don't see them helping much at all.

Actually, given the state of the SANDF, I wouldn't be surprised if in 6 months time we see headlines "SANDF member arrested for sabotaging Eskom power plant". Because lets face it, at this point the rot runs so deep that putting more people in Eskom just means more people to sabotage.

I reckon it's so when you actually do confront these likely violent and armed syndicates, that you've actually got proper backup at hand to take them down and kick them out using much, much more violence than they could bring to the table any day.

Basically, what the old government did with any problem.

This is a slippery slope. We need action but better policing or policing support would make more sense. Use them in combo to shut down these violent syndicates, bring the fist to bear.

Ah, no blacks can have negative comments then according to you? But let me help you with why deploying the army is useless as the DA found out about deploying them against gangs:

1. Constitutionally, the army is used for threats against the sovereignty of the country.
2. The SANDF has no jurisdiction over citizens.
3. The SANDF has no powers of arrest.
4. The SANDF can never use non lethal ammunition.
5. Even a constable outranks a SANDF general when dealing with civilians.
6. Any action by the SANDF against a civilian has to be under the direct control of a policeman.
