Army 'needs more white people'

The Afrikaans ad, written by the SANDF, will start like this: "Aids-stekende loopbaan geleentheid ..."
ROFL:D
Lack of staff is not an indication of lack of skill. The men who operate those submarines are highly skilled and professional.

As for recruitment even the US army struggles to recruit sufficient staff.

Something the armed forces simply fail to take into account is that they take over your life and not many people are willing to do that, particularly not if they can receive better from the private sector. They need to offer something more to get people to join.
OK, I'll rephrase that. "We have a shortage of skilled personnel." What's the difference, the result is the same, one empty u-boat.:rolleyes:

I think the skills shortage is in the dockyard and not so much a shortage of willing and able crew.
It is a quite a task to keep ships and boats seaworthy and in tip top shape and as with aircraft they require regular maintenance.
The fact that we cannot afford to buy these things, or run them is another issue ;)

The dockyard workers was already non navy personnel when I left in 1995.

The dockyard itself was recently outsourced to provide revenue to the navy.

The navy got rid of all the experienced personnel years ago. They are now reaping the result. Simple logic. Nothing to do with dockyards. We don't make ships, we just buy them and crew them,

Do I look physically ready to go to war?

My people are not fighters...gimme a calculator Ill do your taxes maybe.
India has a massive offensive capability. Nuclear weapons, latest Russian fighters, bombers, aircraft carrier. For "not fighters", they are certainly prepared.

Not forgetting the Arjun MBT.

Superb tank IMO.

/although I would always rate the Leo 2A6 as being tops :o

Better than a Challenger 2?

Chally 2 has quite a bit of combat experience - afaik the Arjun not.

IMO would rate the Chally 2 higher than the Arjun :o

Pay me somewhere between R7 to R10k a month, treat me nice, guarantee me safety and give me cool-looking army gear and I'll be there tomorrow to sign up, I promise. :D

Jeez bru you are cheap. I wouldn't go to the army for that much, besides when you get there your career prospects will be less than zero due to AA and EE etc...

Its an ideal opportunity for young people to get some qualification/trade behind their name. Once you have it you leave the armed forces :)

Damit I was talking about the Leo 2A6 :p

:o

Leo 2A6 still to be combat proven , but would rate it higher than the Chally 2.

Latest upgrade of the Leo 2 is the Leo 2 PSO - designed for urban warfare (any good sensible tank commander knows urban terrain is bad news for tanks).

afaik the Chally 2 is still to be adapted for urban warfare.

M1A2 Abrams already adapted for urban warfare - http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com/street-fighters-m1-abrams-tusk-tank-conversions-updated-02546/

I read a Gov. white paper in 2006 on how 5000 of the top colonels , generals and captains in the army took packages in line with the transformation quotes.

Between 2000 to 2006 .. 5000!!! Either retired .. took packages ..or quit! How in gods name can you replace the skills of those top people needed to train and equip army recruits!?

And now they want more "white people" ? :)

Little too late ;)
