Arrested for drinking and driving

Hi Guys,

I looked for a thread that covers this but didnt find anything relevant to my query so please excuse me for double posting. Anyway to my point. I was arrested a few days ago for driving under influence. I have been set a court date for May 2014. Anyway I would like to know what I can expect the outcome to be? I have heard from various friends that it is very likely to get thrown out but if not then I will just pay a fine. If I pay a fine will I still get a criminal record? Is there anyway I am looking at jail time? I have never been arrested before so I am a first time offender. I wasn't not drunk but was drinking so was over ( can't remember what I blew). Also they did draw blood and they had a really professional nurse doing it. Everything seemed to be done really professionally by the police so am just a bit worried. Even payed outstanding fines! lol!

judging by the title im concerned that you are still drunk. please dont drive if you are.
 
Sounds like they did everything by the book.
If you pay the fine which is an admission of guilt it will go on your record.
 
Stop drinking.


Go talk to a lawyer though... they will make sure that you get off with a fine. Its going to cost you though.
 
Ok cool, I guess the next logical step is legal advice, getting arrested by the police shoud have the tag line: "results may vary"
 
If it is a first time offence, it is very likely that you will have to attend a 2 day rehab-type course and if you submit the certificate of completion, it won't go onto your record
 
Thanks for all the advice, just gotta be cool for the next few months and hope for the best. They got like 20 of us that night, I was in a cell with all of them, thats a horrible experience overall because you dont know who they are going to put you with.
 
yeah didnt work damn, shame and humiliation for first time poster:cry:
 
For interests sake I will try to keep this thread updated so that the next sucker knows what do when he/she gets arrested for driving and driving!:D

The next person to do so should give us all a call so we can each stand in line to give him a bloody nose. I have had to stop at enough green lights in order to avoid being whacked by a drunk driver.
 
I was arrested way back when, in JHB, spent the night in jail.

Thank heavens they lost the file when I had to appear on the Monday.

Was not a nice experience.
