Arrested for drinking and driving

Whatever you believe, the law is the law, and I have just been slapped by its long arm, I feel I was in the wrong place at the wrong time, I have learnt my lesson but out of fear of being arrested again and not out of respect for the law because I wasn't drunk, my mind was clear. I was thinking that if garlic stays in your system for days even though you have digested, is it not possible that a breathaliser can pick up remnants of alcohol long after the effects have worn off?

Yeah, I was pulled over and given a warning. This was about 10h30 in the morning, driving in Strand, on the way to a site. That day I did have a raging hangover, and I told the guy this. It turns out, despite a good couple of hours of sleep, you can still be over the legal limit, though not drunk anymore.

More expensive than calling any regular taxi service.

They do drive your car home for you I guess, but why drive if you plan on drinking?

Sometimes you party it up somewhere else than where you live, or at a place you cannot stay over. This is a problem, because a taxi or shuttle service will cost you pretty much an additional 50% of what you planned to spend in total.

I see that our resident ghostbuster walks on water...

So tell, me, Mr GB, have you NEVER done anything wrong in your life before?

Do you think you're going to pay R90 per month, and that's it? :wtf:

Read the web site. That's the base package. You pay for when you use them per debit order.

I love knowing I'm covered. Only a fool takes a chance nowadays. Admittedly I'll drive after a beer or two - the law allows for this (I'm 100 kg).

Go to jail. go directly to jail, do not pass begin do not collect R200

Came here to say this.

Uhhh, Slootvreter ? Hi. Stop being a dick. Imagine your mum/dad/SO/kids getting killed by a drunk driver. Seriously. Think. Imagine. Try.

There is NO excuse to EVER endanger human life because you want to have "one or two". No matter how drunk/sober you are. Everyone handles alcohol differently. Does not give you the right to judge when you are sober enough to risk someone elses life.

I will raise you this:

Uhhh, Dylan_G. Hi. How about YOU stop being a pompous prick. Stop thinking legally over the limit = drunk. Because it's not. Think. Imagine. Try. You can do it, I know you can.

Like I said in the other thread about double standards, I'm not about to inhale a bottle of gin or brandy or whatever and the drive anywhere. But I WILL have wine with my food in a restaurant, and a beer while I'm waiting for my table, and I will drive home. I will have a beer or two after work and drive home. I WILL not pay more for a taxi than for alcohol. Deal with it.

Then you sir, are what people call an arsehole. You DO NOT take chances with others lives because YOU THINK you can handle it. I drink quite a bit myself (20 year old, campus life, blah blah) and I know that people can be "normal" after having a few. The fact is that there IS some effect from alcohol, and it is that said effect which is the reason you shouldn't drive.

I sincerely hope you don't procreate, cause you sure as **** would not teach kids anything morally worthwhile. Its people like you who scare me. Faith in humanity, lost.

Ok cool, I guess the next logical step is legal advice, getting arrested by the police shoud have the tag line: "results may vary"

Because of the backlog at labs, there is a chance that the blood sample might not be available at your court date.If you can represent yourself or get a legal person to rep you,he could have it thrown off the roll...worked for me:o

OP is lucky he did not lose his car, by law the cops have the right to impound it.
IMO it should have been impounded and he should get convicted, drunk or driving under influence is one of the worst crimes

A mate of mine died over the weekend when he got hit by a drunk driver.

OP, make of that what you will.

Also they did draw blood and they had a really professional nurse doing it.

Have the results of the blood work come back yet? If 'yes' what was the result, if 'no' wait for the results and request a copy.

I'm sorry, I don't remember learning that the law was up for interpretation by you. Every time you drink and drive you're tempting fate - either you're going to be involved in an accident or arrested. Honestly, no sympathy from me when either happens.

Your arrogance matches that of a teenager - are you even old enough to drive? Honestly :/

Ant :(

OP - Maybe its just that you are using one too many smiley faces but this is no smiley face matter.. Hopefully you were just over, anything more and you deserve a klap and jail.
