Article: Can't read, write or do mathematics? Sue the state!

A 15-year-old Australian boy is suing the government after allegedly being left illiterate and innumerate despite being taught at a state-run school, officials confirmed Tuesday.

The Victoria state education department said it was defending the claim made by a Year 10 boy from Melbourne, who cannot be named for legal reasons, after details of the case were reported by the ABC, Australia's public broadcaster.

They said the state government promises a "world class" education for students, but the boy -- who is also suing for future loss of earnings

:wtf:

If this catches on in SA... The government will be Fcked...

And how!

It's a valid assumption, totally illiterate earns less than literate, not sure how they can quantify it though. It's also years of his live they he won't get back that have resulted in nothing. The question is why?

How would he know? he can't read?

How can you proof you studied?

I think stupidity was self inflicted this time, nothing to do with the country, but more to do with the boy and his parents. Surely his parents would have noticed that he is not performing, or can't read the tv-guide to see when the next instalment of Ben 10 is showing?

Definately. Just another case of someone trying to shift blame. And then trying to capitalise out of it.

:wtf: Holy **** this is screwed up. So retarded not even an American would try it.

I think I need to sue our government as well for my "loss of future income", because I would have started my own business and turned it into a global empire, if only they did their duty and somehow forced me to work harder at school and university and completely absolved me of any responsibility.

They can talk to my lawyers to find out where to deliver the Bugatti Veyron and the $10 Billion. (I don't want to be too greedy)

Edit: Oh yes I was also bullied at school so better make that $15 Billion and throw in a Maybach as well, plzkthx.

Lol idiot, the faster people learn that they are responsible for their own education the better. You can blame the government for a lot of things, but seeing as 99.9% of the other kids made it, what went wrong in your case?
