Records of marks. In theory how can he progress to the grade/std he is in if he is as illiterate as he says? Did the system pass him? On what grounds? Was remedial correction ever suggested or attempted? Hence why I say the question needs to be asked "Why?".
Yes, you could say it was his fault if he didn't study but its the same as our varsity students getting into class and being unable to read or write properly. How did the system allow them to progress through school?
