Article: DA versus Mamphela Ramphele

The Democratic Alliance (DA) wants Agang SA leader Mamphela Ramphele to clarify whether she will be joining their party and standing as their presidential candidate or cancelling the agreement, the Sunday Times reported.

DA leader Helen Zille told the newspaper that the ball was in Ramphele's court.

If this deal does not go through, someone should fall on their sword.

What a mess.

The damage is already done no matter what happens from here on out. Trust has been broken.

Another own goal for politics in this country.

One can only hope it all becomes better and more ideologically aligned whenever the ANC loses the majority.

Very peculiar, it sounds as if Mamphela wants to be seen as Agang(i.e. not being branded as DA) yet still have the benefits/backing of shacking up with the DA.

You took those words from my mouth. I called this thing a mess from day 1. http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/592531-Article-Mamphela-Ramphele-the-DA-s-presidential-candidate?p=11992091&viewfull=1#post11992091 But no the DA supporters were blind to the truth. Am glad that they are finally waking up from the brief honeymoon period.

Then why attend the public announcement, why have one anyway?

Ramphele’s candidate speech is available, but she made additional comments that I heard on the radio. One being that there will be unhappy people on the DA side, she made no Agang SA mention, this was quite interesting to me. It was Agang SA members whom showed their disapproval, then several others (incl. prior DA members) also started to publish heated articles and comments. I am also pondering Ramphele’s action the next day, inputting into the media that the announcement is mere a DA and Agang SA structural integration, where is the presidential candidate now? The publicity surrounding this topic might have given Ramphele another thought on this decision, one on which I’m waiting in regard with the article.

Personally, I see that people don’t want to accept change, taking this in note that the decision (as per the announcement) were not consulted with the managing divisions on both sides.

At least the DA supporters can acknowledge when something has gone wrong and comment and criticise. Now if only the anc zealots can learn to do the same to their overlords.

Classic DA defense. "Oooh, what about them."

Is it true or not...?

It is not... This thing that is happening in the DA will NEVER happen in any other political party except the DA. Who is zealot now? Defending the indefensible.

Who is zealot...? :D I dunno never met him/her. You are clearly not interested in engaging me on the point I was raising or you have trouble with comprehension.

Are you for real? Mistyped and didn't put "a". Anyhow, my point still stands.

I asked you a question with regards to supporters speaking publicly about the failings of their party and criticising them and you replied with:

If you apply yourself and READ what I typed you would see that I agree that this is a mess. So who is defending what now...?
