Article: DA's plan to win Gauteng a pipe dream: ANC

The DA's statement that it will take over Gauteng after the elections is a pipe dream, the ANC in the province said on Tuesday.

"The DA fails to run Western Cape and Midvaal. It is unimaginative of the DA to take over Gauteng," spokesman Dumisa Ntuli said in a statement.

While I strongly disagree that the DA fails to run the Western Cape (sounds like they're doing a pretty good job), the DA taking over Gauteng doesn't seem very likely this election.

Pigs will fly sooner. The DA hasn't boxed clever leading up to the elections.

The DA hasn't boxed clever leading up to the elections.

The DA has boxed clever since the last elections, unlike the ANC who only come out from under their rocks when it's time to look for votes.

The Democratic Alliance's development policies were based on "a criminal racist agenda", Ntuli said.

South Africa’s ruling African National Congress (ANC) is so divided among different factions that it is “a complete mess” and ill-prepared for this year’s local elections, according to a leaked document from Wikileaks’ Cablegate scandal.

The October 29, 2009 document, first reported by South African daily City Press, documents a meeting between ANC Gauteng spokesperson Dumisa Ntuli and an American diplomat.

It's more of a mess now than in 2009.

The ANC always wake up right in the end. They have a big drive just before election that really helps them.

I think the ANC should be worried.. The way the WC was won was not overnight either but by strategic victories back to back. They 1st won the municipal elections then after that the provincial. If you look at the 2011 results you will see the DA is not too bad off to win e.g.JHB. With regards to Gauteng, last elections in 2009 was a 60-20 win for the ANC vs DA.. But then Zuma was lesser known to live lavishly with no real track record. The eTolls I think will sway a few people if price of goods start going up.

Some erosion might be felt by both sides from the EFF as well - I'm hoping that the DA see less people on the fence moving over to EFF than the ANC though. E-tolls has been a massive thing and NUMSA splitting has helped tremendously as well. I'm not sure if it'll happen next election but I think the ANC are insane if they think there isn't a challenge there.

Ag typical pre-election mud slinging. Want to win an election? Do something for those giving in shacks.
That'd be nice but unfortunately doesn't guarantee a win or a vote either - I've had actual conversations with people that went like this:

Q) So what you're saying is you're really angry with the ANC?
A) Yes, they keep stealing money, nothing has improved for me or for any of us
Q) So who are you going to vote for in the next election?
A) Oh, the ANC of course.

I thought according to government statistics that the Western Cape is the best managed and cleanest in regard with audits? Out of which tree did the ANC fall...

Seems the 47% odd who did not make it all the way to matric ended up in the cANCer....
