Calling me a spoilt brat when I already contribute towards road maintenance included in the fuel levy really irks me. There was no consultation about the toll gates, the toll system cost as much as the road upgrades itself which is ridiculous, with the ANC's full-on culture of corruption my belief is the system was chosen for the sole reason of how large the kick-backs were.

Minister, you seem to forget that you are a public servant and here to serve us - not the other way around.

The tolls approved by the cabinet had been revised because of the public outcry. I plan to protest by not getting an e-tag, forcing them to snailmail my account to me & querying every single trip by requesting photo verification for as long as I can. I will also not pay until threatened with legal action. You want to call me a spoilt brat for pointing out your dishonesty & incompetence, lets see how your clogged-up toll system functions under further mass protest.

FFS ministers in this country have completely forgotten that they work for the public and are not dictators to the public. If the majority cry out about a specific topic that falls under your mandate then your obvious solution is to consult and find a middle ground. You most certainly do not hurl insults back at the very public who pay your salary. You most certainly do not throw accusations their way without just cause.

The ANC thinks they've covered all their bases now in terms of having to avoid damage control when this thing hits. Taxis etc. are exempt so no fear of mass action, right? Hehe...they seem to have forgotten that the cost of everything is going to go up when this is implemented. Good luck with the masses on that one!

Not long ago there was some rose-coloured glasses wearer here who jumped on me when I raised this point, saying that the railways would alleviate this problem. The railways!? LOL. I mean, really? Does rail offer an alternative to even one millimeter of these tolled roads in terms of transporting goods? I wonder how many Spars, Checkers and PnPs have rail tracks leading to their loading bays?
 
The most sad thing, that masses will not link tolls to rising prices of everything. It's just an inflation.

Are you being intentionally dense here or are you putting in extra effort? The unions communicate with their members constantly and they won't strike just because the union says so - they require an internal quorum amongst themselves first. Clearly few people understand the idiosyncrasies of unions. While they might not comprehend the economics of inflation to the nth degree (much the same as I'm sure you don't), they still understand that rising input costs equate to rising consumer costs on their part. What happens though is that the intention of most strikes is lost through the emotional politicking that most unions involve themselves in which is ridiculous.

Really now, can you lot stop associating black people with stupidity? It only devalues your point of view (because it's simply not true) from the outset and only serves to give the likes of Malema fuel to burn. Most of you here in CA act very much like Malema from the polar opposite perspective. And please kindly go fsck yourself if you want to call me a LancelotSA clone, because I've been defending rational thinking long before he even registered on these forums...

I don't see some serious outrage, assuming that majority of people are not against tolls or just not minding (or maybe it is just not apparent enough). I was talking about majority irrespective of race, or do you mean "masses" = "black people"?
Many people choosing just to ignore it, because it not affecting them directly, that my point was. The majority who either work close, either use "public"/public transport or just not using highways daily. When prices will rise and people realize that they should have protested against somehow, it will be too late.

You say "...they require an internal quorum amongst themselves first...", so why are there not enough members to start a strike? It is final decision on prices!
There is always enough of them to start strikes when talks are about money. This one also talks about money, as you mentioned above and they are aware of.

Or I am missing a point? Correct me if I am wrong here.
