I still can't believe that the oke running South Africa only has a STANDARD 2 EDUCATION,
earns a million rand a month,
lives in a PALACE worth R 260 million ,
while some people are poor and starving ...

and he still expects the same poor and starving people to vote him into power again ...
 
Julius Malema created the eff party and a few weeks later created a trust ...
just
so that others could pay off his bad SARS debt ...

He doesn't care about the people.
 
This is another in a long line of classic examples of question bias. A decent study would never ask such a leading question that appeals to emotion to sway the audience.

Many respondents will feel that answering no results in them agreeing that politicians can in fact be trusted.

What a stupid question...

Reminds me of the questions on MyBB polls. They're either like that, or they don't have all the choices. :)

The idea that if one does not vote one has no right to say anything is total BS. Being a citizen or even a permanent resident and (but not exclusively) paying TAX is enough justification.

There are a number of countries where the head of government is selected by the party that has the majority.

I am trying to understand this. This statement seems to suggest that voting is doing something and non-voting is not doing anything. Surely, one would not know what 'space_chief' and '2012' have contributed to society (apart from paying taxes) - seems totally unfair to dismiss them as not doing anything?

True, but our head of state, with executive powers, is selected by the legislature. This is quite rare.

The electoral college is bull****. All first past the post voting sucks, as it makes many votes not count.

At least our system makes each vote count.

Why? What do you gain from this other than wasting an opportunity to improve the standing of other opposition parties in parliament? The spoiled votes argument by Kasrils and his ilk makes me mad because it achieves nothing.

It's the only way that really works.

The problem with South Africa is that we lack a non-executive head of state, independent from parliament.

Well voting affects the whole country. Not much else a person does has such a big affect.

You know Gary, some people are not interested in politics at all. It seems very wrong that our society is dominated by politics. Should life not be about other, more important issues? We want to learn, we want to work, we want to play and we want to live.

We do not want to be obsessed about JZ having stolen money or what Helen said or what Juju did? Life cannot be about that.
