Article: Man arrested for driving too slow

A 45-year-old man was arrested for driving at a slow speed on the N1 north in Midrand, the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) said on Sunday.

JMPD Chief Superintendent Wayne Minnaar said the man was driving at 30km/h on the fast lane of the highway on Saturday night.
 
Was not aware that one could be arrested for driving too slow (fined for driving below the minimum speed, yes ... arrested - no) and it seems that he is merely facing a drunk driving charge...

There are signs on highways that state the speed limit being 120km/h and 60km/h is the slowest. Not sure if one can be arrested for driving slower than 60km/m, even on the slowest lane.

we were discussing this on that hit and run thread but i think this guy was over the alcohol limit why he was arrested, probably only noticed him because he was crawling along in the right lane

I don't know the area -so I don't know if there are lights on that part of the highway...BUT assuming there aren't any:
Good lord that is uber dangerous! 30km/h, fast lane, without lights, at night! :wtf:

Not sure either but I agree with it. If you are going to arrest someone for doing 200km/h you should arrest someone for doing 30km/h. Both are incredibly dangerous.
 
Naaaa you might wake them up and then they will have heart attacks.
 
Someone was doing the same this morning on the N1 South just past New Road at 05:40.
 
"He was caught driving his Mazda 6 in the fast lane, at 30km/h with the vehicle's head-lights off, on a national road that is a 120km/h zone," Minnaar said.

When the man was pulled over and instructed to get out of the car, he struggled to stand upright to take a breathalyser, Minnaar said.

"He tested 0.90mlg which is nearly four times above the legal limit of 0.24mlg."

Its the fancy new highways so lots of light poles, wether they are on or not...

Some sections seem to be "out of order" the whole time.

So at peak hour 50% of the cars on the highway should be fine...it hardly moves at all!

At least if they're dead they will no longer be holding me up while they figure out how to make their car pull away and go faster. And at the speeds they're travelling a heart attack won't even cause more than a minor fender dent.
