Article: New 5FM line-up

Yeah, also ditched 5FM for KFM (although I don't find them awesome; just a better alternative to 5FM). I just can't stand the music that is being dished out on ANY radio station these days. Maybe I'm just a musical dinosaur, but the stations these days don't cater to all tastes and that is hugely disappointing.

How hard would it be to start a radio station that caters to people like me (old school rock and roll, alternative and some metal). Can't recall the last time I heard a Metallica, AC/DC, Korn or Linkin Park song on the radio...

Take a listen to Mix FM - loads of the classic rock and good presenters not trying too hard

They also seem to have lost it music wise so I've gone back to Tuks when the reception's OK.

Talking about the morning show. Tony Blewitt is the reason I listen but when they played the Theme from South Pacific they hit a new low.

Weekday afternoons at 4:30 has so much talk I switch to 702 with the wonderful Xolani.

Saturday and sunday afternoons unlistenable unless you were a flower child or if you enjoy Carole King and The Carpenters.

Do yourself a favour if you're driving on Saturday or Sunday afternoons - switch between 702, Tuks and MixFm. No way will you stay on Mix.

Leon Economides on the other hand WOW WOW WOW that guy has an amazing show. Sunset Dance is amazing and a few saturdays ago I heard some good rock before 9:00am.

Can't often listen during the day but when I do the shows are OK and like you say DJs are good.

5FM has become completely redundant. Has finally become just anothe cog in the ANC ruled SABC wheel....nearly all the good dj's walked out and are at KFM now.

A radio station catering for the following target audience,
Core: Age Group 20 - 25 in LSM Groups 7 – 9
Primary: Age Group 16 - 34 in LSM Groups 6 - 10

So it's no different to YFM? I get the feeling that some that are complaining are too old for 5FM. Maybe you can try Jacaranda.

Yes, they don't realise that a radio station's target audience's age group stays the same while they move on. They're just nostalgic for the presenters they idolized of old.
