Article: New DA pamphlet angers ANC

How is this relevant and why would you say twisting spiritual belief to suit your political agenda and is in no way despicable at all? Of course it is. Lying for a political agenda is always despicable.

My point exactly, but there is a stronger connection between Suzman and the DA than Heaven and the ANC. Oh, and irony was the intention of my first post.

I vote DA, but not out of fear of the ANC. I vote DA because I KNOW the ANC is incapable of running the country correctly, and the DA has the best chance of opposing them. Their principles aren't too far removed from my own so I don't find it a difficult choice to make.

and there's my point

When I go to the PE offices for lectures. On the walls are pictures of Helen Suzman. Theyve been there for longer than this debate has existed and/or was formed.

kick my ass, i am often wrong :)

As explained. Where the DA govern... they govern well. At least I think so. Where they dont govern. Their job is to OPPOSE anything the ANC does wrong and bring as much attention to it. This is healthy! If they agreed with everything the ANC did we would be ****ed. The DA dont have governing power in places they dont govern. The only thing they can do is jump up and down and bring attention to stuff the ANC would rather want swept under the carpet.

Just out of interest, how would you all feel if the ANC used the same picture with a quote by Suzman about how wonderful Mandela is and a paragraph explaining that Suzman loved the ANC and an implication that all whites should feel quite at home in the ANC?
IMO it would send out a better message than "shoot the boer". Why can't the ANC make white people feel at home?

I would not care.

Don't care much about this as it is anyway.

I remember some ANC bigwig pulling up in his anc flag covered roofless merc and taking photos of DA posters at the last general elections.
I really laughed, what a joke getting up in arms about political media.

here is an easier way to summarise it: Suzman fought for freedom and a better country, which is what the DA stands for. Mandela did the same, and the current ANC goverment isn't doing that. i think that is the closest we can get to using them for support. even Mandela called the DA "a white party", it didn't mean that he didn't agree with their principles or that he will ever stop being the father of our country, it simply means he had a different vision when he said that. Him and Suzman saw a bright future for our country.

DA members? can't be unfortunately. but their vision will stay true

No, the DA is now the liberal party that Helen started. It simply has been re-branded about 6 times. Many of the PP activists that were in the PP (and are politically young enough to still be in office) are still in the DA. Its the same original liberal ideals, the same people. Just a different name.

The ANC was founded in 1912 but only became to be called the ANC in the 1950`s. Does that mean everything before it was called the ANC is now null and void? South Africa was not always called the Republic of South Africa? Does that mean we kill its past history because of a name change?

i wouldn't say sweep under the carpet, i've seen their policies and plans and they're very good. to me when i see most articles or posts from the DA, it seems like " The ANC this..." and "The ANC that". i understand that is where the opposition part comes in.

how i see it, and how i imagine a lot of ANC supporters see it, is them sligning mud and knocking the party they love. if the DA, without bringing attention to the shortcomings of the ANC(which we are all aware of at this point, even the biggest ANC supporters), said "we can do this and this for you, in this period of time" then maybe people would be mroe receptive to it?

the ANC is in ruins and has a lot of faults, but even i reguirgitate at the amount of hate that is directed towards the ANC on this board, even on topics that have nothign to DO with the ANC, the ANC somehow pops up and another bashing fest begins.

i just feel a lot of people want solutions, instead of someone jumping up and down saying "look! look!"

The fact that the ANC uses lies and dirty politicking doesn't mean the DA can do so and it's OK.
I actually don't have any problem with the DA claiming Suzman as one of there own, despite my previous posts, but this particular pamphlet annoys me.

So you're OK with them lying in order to create an impression that may not be true. Given that many white people do not feel at home in the ANC...

That then is the perception you have chosen. Because most of their stuff has nothing to do with the ANC. You have chosen to stick onto one small part of their message while ignoring the rest.

Then vote for the DA. So they can govern and not oppose. This is not a hard concept to understand. As long as they dont have the power to govern and give people solutions then all they can do is draw attention to the wrongs the ANC are doing. Until they govern, their role is to oppose. They have wonderful solutions. They need the power to implement them. If they dont have power to implement their solutions, then they have to oppose the governing party. That is their job.

Why wont you contact those PP activists currently serving in the DA and ask them? Why do you keep ignoring all the PP activists currently leading the DA?

funny this thread is like a silent movie.

I can see someone is posting but not what they are saying

:D

The whole "Stop Zuma" was a good example of this type of blunder by the DA...
