Article: New smoking rules not well received

Find another bar. You don't have the right to tell the owner who he should allow in. The fscking nerve of some people.

Why can't you find another bar rather?

You're no better then a dagga abuser.

Or you can just smoke at home.

Or you can stay home if you're not happy with the rules that the owner of the bar has put in place. Or open your own, no smoking allowed, bar. Although I suspect that would probably be a very sad and empty bar.

The only reason those smokers do not smoke in the stadium is because it is not allowed by law. Without the law, they would not give a toss.

And I am sure that I am the only person in the world that would like to go to a bar and not smell like an ashtray the next morning. Good for me.

You don't have to go to a bar where people are smoking. Let's go ahead and arrest all the sharks that come within 300km of the beach, just so you can swim safely.

What I'm trying to say is, if it doesn't suit you, GTFO. There are many other places out there.

Why should I if the owner allows it? Go tell him to change his rules, not me. The fact is that most bars allow smoking, because smokers bring money. If you don't like it then you should find one where the rules explicitly state that no smoking is allowed. Good luck with that though.

Bars and restaurants are private property, much like homes, and if the owner allows it then it's his prerogative. Nobody has a right to tell him who should and should not be allowed.

Or you can just smoke at home if you are not happy with the anti smoking laws that the government of the country put in place. Or start your own, smoking allowed everywhere, country.

Sigh yes.

Just irritated that Mike keeps trying to act like he is better when he is just a substance abuser.

I'm not better dude, I just want to be left the eff alone. I smoke where I'm allowed to, and I don't want people telling me what I should or shouldn't do.

This law attempts to force the owners of private property to change their rules, and that is my concern. How would you like it if the government proposed laws about what you're allowed to do in your home? It's the same thing.

Fsck the government and anyone who wants to stick their head up the government's arse. They work for us as taxpayers. If you want to worship them then go ahead and ring Zuma up, I'm sure he wouldn't mind making you his next bitch :)

Jesus still loves you. Even though you are so angry.

Would my analogy make more sense if I said jelly fish? Think for a little while before searching Wikipedia for "shark nets".

Have you always lived your life in totally ignorant, inconsiderate bliss?

Get real, we're not talking about criminal acts here.

It is only criminal because the law says it is. When the law says you are not allowed to smoke in a bar, smoking in a bar would be a criminal act.

Crime is defined by the law. We can always make smoking in your home a criminal act. Would that make you feel better?

And if it was a crime to have a braai at your house because of the smoke it emits, you would be happy with that? What about banning all forms of combustion-based transport?

The point is that just because some knob in government says that it's a crime, doesn't make him right.

When I see all the stompies on the beach, streets, public areas and flying out of car windows I wonder if smokers are equally piggish in their own homes but I do think the law extreme, unreasonable and unenforceable.

Zapiro did a cartoon a few days ago showing two smokers on a high window ledge and reminded me of odd instances of "would-be-suicides" on window legdes.

To my knowledge, none of them ever jumped but were eventually persuaded to go back inside. On the street below there was absolute chaos as cars and pedestrians stopped to stare.

I wonder what would happen if a few people actually did go on ledges to smoke at rush hour time.
