Minor parties the become king makers and can actually force their principles through by choosing who they support.
How did that work out in Australia in 2011? Gillard's government was crippled by the fact that anything they did would upset a coalition partner and break up their coalition. All of a sudden you have a paralysed government and no politician can do anything.
Maybe that's a good thing.
I'm a firm supporter of minority governments, but most political parties are against it and prefer a majority coalition.
