Article: Obama and Romney debate quotes

US President Barack Obama and his Republican challenger Mitt Romney faced off Wednesday in the first of three televised debates in the run-up to the November 6 election.

Here are some of the key quotes of the night.

LOL

Haven't watched the debate yet, but it seems Romney is well up to the task. Obama's subdued approach won't work this time around, he needs to up his game if he's gonna perform in this sideshow...

Obama dropped the ball. It wasn't a knock out fight by any means but Romney won as far as I'm concerned. Obama didn't call him on the 47% comment at all.

Yeah, heard Romney outperformed Obama by quite a bit.

I'll start

I was watching something interesting on msbc that showed that the media always reports that the Republican wins the debate (I assume this has something to do with the power of murdochs international news machine)... but in retrospect 9/10 times it was actually the democrat that won. Not saying this is what happened here, but I am careful with media reports of the debates after learning this.

Having watched the debate it's very clear Romney won. Romney was very impressive. If it happens again in the next two debates Romney could easily take the whole thing.

I read this on a few independent sources.

Not sure about that.

Here is the complete debate.

The sound clears up about 2 minutes in.

Watch the debate and you will see what i mean. Romney just appears more capable and switched on. Obama appears quite weak.

Obama is going to have to lift his game because 2 more of these and his lead will evaporate.

I you watch it on mute or don't comprehend what is being said. Which, I'm afraid is like 80% of the population.(yes, I'm guestimating :p)

But yeah, body-language, voice projection and confidence-wise, Romney seemed more persuasive and sure of himself. Obama seemed tired. And, as we all know, people are not usually swayed by reason, they are swayed by passion. Interesting developments.

Viewer polls clearly put Romney as the winner. I think 67% polled said Romney won and 25% thought Obama did. Seeing as the entire purpose of the debate is for the audience I think its the audience that should determine who won and it was clearly Romney.

Seems Romney pulled JFK to Obama's Nixon. Anyone who watched that debate on TV thought JFK won overwhelmingly because he used make up and appeared much more calm and relaxed vs Nixon sweating. However the radio polls showed Nixon won.

rpm, your post is incomplete.

Too bad Ron Paul wasn't in there. He would of schooled both of these clowns.

Imo these two are just different faces of the same coin.
