Article: Pierre Korkie has been killed

Not Islam,Idiots.

Of course it is islam if you have any knowledge about islam you would know thats what islam is all about.

It is a religion that steals, kills and destroys. and the kuran is a misguided abomination inspired by "principalities and powers"

the kuran talks about allah a "false god" that promises people some kind of heaven when they murder, rape, destroy anyone who stands in there way. all of it is false anyway.

the interesting thing is that most of them believe it.

a message to all people of white (or light) skin color stay away from the middle east unless you study the koran.

But we in Christian countries must always show tolerance for these ragheads? Why don't they get the f**k out of Europe.

We need a common enemy to be united.

We need to be invaded by aliens for mankind to ever stand together.

I can bet you these people will work with the aliens. Mankind could not stand together...

RIP Pierre. At last your fear and suffering is over. So sorry you didn't make it home.

I'm actually pretty annoyed by this. Now Gift of the Givers are claiming he was to be released the next day? Why the fark would they now try and put a spin on this? The Americans tried to save Somers and Korkie. Unfortunately he died. Now they claim this? What a low blow Gift of the givers...

Not a low blow..
They're trying to make themselves relevant in an area where they are completely irrelevant.

What if you spend days negotiating to get somebody's home back after it was possessed and succeed, only for an angry relative to burn the place down because they don't know the plan and hours invested in it?

Not sure why everyone's bashing GotG on this? From what I gather they've been negotiating in good faith for months to try and get Korkie home. So what reason do we have to believe they're lying about him possibly being released?

The head of GotG was on 702 this morning and said they'd brokered a deal with the local tribal leaders, which I take it is how things are generally done for this sort of thing. They're intermediaries. He also said he doesn't blame the Americans for this.

I don't get it. On previous negotiations it was all over the news. It died down about 6 months ago. Now all of a sudden once he died, he was suppose to be released the very next day

I don't buy it, I'm sorry.

Not that far fetched, imo. The rescue attempt wasn't a once-in-a-blue-moon event. They conduct rescues quite often, and the previous one was successful and they freed 8 (non-American) hostages. Sounds like a tragic turn of events, is all.

This was the 2nd attempt to free Somers - the last one 10 days prior. They had lost the element of suprise.

No I agree fully on the rescue attempt. My gripe is with GotG now claiming he would have been released the next day. Like I said, previously they came to the news with every negotiation and updated the media with the progress. Why would they not have shared the pending release of Korkie? if they did I highly doubt the Americans would have done a midnight raid. They would have coupled the raid with the handover. Even if it meant a few of the hostage takers would not be at the compound and Somers would have had less guards.

None of what GotG are saying makes sense.

They had informed the family of his pending release.

Propoganda - good terrorists were going to free him, bad americans caused his death
After the fact so its easy to claim

The news says the Americans did not not that Korkie was being held with the American hostage so they'd have gone ahead with their operation and Gift couldn't have known about the impending American raid or its location. It is worth noting that the kidnappers have reneged on previous deals for one or other reason on Korkie so we can't just swallow their word on the promise.

How do we know they didn't? They aren't responsible for what the media reports on. And the rest is speculation about what the Americans would have done. They don't share their operational schedule with anyone, much less GotG. And who would GotG have told on America's side? An embassy?

And besides, remember that these negotiations aren't neat, cut-and-dried affairs. It's done very much ad-hoc and on the whim of the tribal leaders who act as intermediaries. I'm guessing that's where GotG got their 'confirmation' from that he was to be released.
