Article: Racial tension in DA: ANC

The DA's two Gauteng premier candidates indicated racial tension within the party, the ANC in the province said on Wednesday.

"The fact that the Democratic Alliance has two premier candidates is a distinctly inauspicious sign that the party is in a state of mess, confusion and leadership squabbles," African National Congress Gauteng chairman Dumisa Ntuli claimed.

I detect a distinct misunderstanding of how democracy works along with an odour of racialism and serious barrel scraping

Usually they pong of incompetent and corrupt with an undertone of idiot...

This little gem is pure whiff of stupid.

I absolutely love what Maimane said!!! :D

Maimane dismissed Ntuli's comments as political rhetoric aimed at diverting public attention from the ANC's failings.
"They have no delivery record and are losing credibility. All they want to argue is race," he said.
Attempts to portray the DA as a white party contained the implication that the ANC was therefore a black party, Maimane said.
The focus on race issues showed the ANC had departed from the non-racial principles of its former president Albert Luthuli, he said.

Manufactured issue. Expect a lot of these as we get closer to elections.

I detect a whiff of stupid coming from the ANC again.

It's a whiff of Swaziland's best. They are inhaling thick clouds of the stuff!

I honestly don't think that the DA are god's gift to SA, but in a democracy you are allowed to have more than one candidate for a position. The electorate should then decide who they prefer. The process is not conducted behind close doors and the decision made based on who bends over the furthest for the emperor.

Public accountability is a foreign concept to the ANC. They will decide who is put into public office.

i think DA is failing to make a concrete decision on who must be a premier. J Bloom has experience and well suited to be the premier. He has worked in many portfolios in the province. But i am tempted to say this -Musi can be the one who brings more votes and with his age, most youth will vote for him. To win votes you must be well known.

Leader of the province by default is the one to be a premier. This has also happened in DA.

DA should just make decision and stop confusing us.

No Jacob, this is how the democratic process works. You put for nominations and then choose the better candidate.

So two candidates of differing races for premier indicates racial tension?
No, it doesn't actually. It indicates a diverse party which offers equal opportunity for all.

Uhm, no it didn't. Ivan Meyer is the DA Western Cape leader while Zille is the Premier.

You're the only one who's confused, it seems. It's a pretty straight forward democratic process.

Thats cause you cant appoint someone to a position, they have to be democratically elected in. So the leadership cant say, "Well we want X to be premier". The position is open to anyone in the party who wishes to contend it.

Welcome to democracy.
