I agree that there were way to many questions.
Census are about being counted. They should have made the other questions a separate form that you could have answered if you wanted.

For me personally - it makes me feel like a naughty child in high school getting away with something erm... naughty.
Rebelling against the man(government) and believing in free will.
Paying taxes but receiving fckall in return.
Being white and ignored/sidelined or demonised - for all purposes not counted in other matters, so why should I care if government wants to count me now - how will this census improve my life whatsoever - none if we are honest about the ANC.
I don't mind being counted - I have a fundamental issue with parties unknown to me knowing the contents of my house and estimated income. I pay tax (so they know what my income is, it is also part of a controlled environment so less likely to be abused.), I have been rica'd (so residence, address etc have all been confirmed. Again controlled environment). That is all the government needs from me.

True. I avoided those answers. I also think the form is a bit over the top. They had to count you, not the money you make and the TV's in the house.
I also did not like them being in my house. The last time unknown people were in my yard I was robbed. Yes call me a tin foil hatter.

When we were walking the dogs on Saturday with my dad, we saw the yellow census vehicle driving through the suburb followed by a police van.
They stopped at one house near the entrance to the enclosed area. We saw them again at another house on the way out.
They said they had served summonses earlier and were now executing warrants of arrest.

I don't really understand why the census should be compulsory under force of law. If I want to help the state get some stats, great. If not, so be it.

The stats are used to plan service delivery and improve the lives of South African citizens.
Your refusal makes it harder for them to deliver on that.
I know you are going to say that the government is failing on service delivery anyway, but that is not the STATS departments problem.
They are just doing their job in accordance with the Stats Act.
If more departments were thorough in doing their jobs, we might just make this country work.
But members of the public who are beligerent and obstructive for no valid reason will just short circuit the whole process.
Taking a census is a reasonable process with very little hard work from the public.
There is no reason why anyone should have to refuse.
I am quite happy for the full might of the law to be executed against such people.
