Article: Too many strikes: minister

Government is struggling to contain the frequency of wage-related protests, Deputy Mineral Resources Minister Godfrey Oliphant said on Tuesday.

The surge in strikes, observed from 2007, calls for a resuscitation of trust and respect in wage negotiations, Oliphant told the third biennial labour relations conference hosted by the Public Service Commission in Pretoria.
 
maybe if they start delivering proper services and use our tax money in a responsible manner, then everyone will not need to earn more just to make ends meet.
Right now everyone wants more because they have to pay twice for the same services, so they have to get it from somewhere.
 
you encourage people to exercise their right to strike... so they strike at every given opportunity.

Simple .. too many strikes is a barometer on how badly you're running the country.

Lonmin's South African subsidiaries pay the lowest wages of all. South African miners subsidise the wages of other miners in the group. The subsidy is so great that they can even carry these strikes without too much trouble.
 
Too much thinking like Africans?

I believe I would be correct until proven wrong, but I haven't heard of, nor seen strikes on the rest of continent, at the levels and frequency we experience here ! So, I think your statement is shyte to be honest.
