I believe I would be correct until proven wrong, but I haven't heard of, nor seen strikes on the rest of continent, at the levels and frequency we experience here ! So, I think your statement is shyte to be honest.

Collective bargaining will continue to persist in this country as long as there are no universal minimum wage laws. The government cannot introduce minimum wage as it will price everyone that's unskilled out of the market. Yet, the idea is to create skilled labour in any case - so maybe it will be a good thing, but only in the long term. Catch22 + indifference + competing with the third world = unions aren't going anywhere.
