Article: Uber driver hits passenger with a hammer

A driver for the popular car-hailing service Uber has been charged with seriously injuring a passenger by hitting him over the head with a hammer, prosecutors said Friday.

Patrick Karajah, 26, allegedly lashed out at one of three passengers he had transported late Tuesday in San Francisco, said a spokesman for the city's prosecutors office.

This is shoddy journalism. The most obvious question is why? But the journo doesn't even raise the Q. The driver might have been defending himself, or provoked, etc.

In this case it turns out there was an argument about the route. Pax were picked up from a bar at 2am. Maybe the ball-peened passenger was soused, aggressive and threatening... maybe the driver was manhandled first...

Another thing. Is it even vaguely relevant that the driver was summoned using Uber? I don't think Uberdom had anything to do with the incident. The reporter might just as well have said "Samsung/iPhone user gets hammered", or "AT&T user" or anything else.

Maybe the journalist's father is an old-style taxi driver who doesn't like Uber, and there's an agenda behind the report...?
