The police do NOT protect the poor, they do NOTHING to protect the poor. They only harass and kill other rival gangs. That is what they do. Once again, go out there in the streets. Turn off your broadband internet for an hour or two, open those blinds and look at the majority of the suffering in this country, where is this police gang we hired to help us?

The role of the police is to protect, they do no such for the majority(who are paying for their cars and kids school fees).

If you are still confused you are welcome to take a drive down to your closest slums and do an interview with the real south african public.

You did not answer my questions. You made absurd statements and without proof you are sounding more and more like a lunatic.

The police do NOT protect the poor, they do NOTHING to protect the poor. They only harass and kill other rival gangs. That is what they do. Once again, go out there in the streets. Turn off your broadband internet for an hour or two, open those blinds and look at the majority of the suffering in this country, where is this police gang we hired to help us?

Yes I agree. The police have not arrested any rapists lately. Or caught people who hijacked buildings using it to extort money from the tenants. They have definately not done anything this past week in defence of the general public. Only thing I've heard on the news all week long was about all those police bombings... :whistle:

Why dont you use your brain for a bit and at least admit you are making very broad generalisations. Sure some of the police are corrupt, I'll admit that. But all of them? You've got to be mentally challenged or clinically insane to truly believe that

With people like you what incentive do the police have to go into hostile situations or the slums like you put it.
Say they go to a gang area, they can either get shot or they kill the criminal first and people like you will want to put them in jail for it.

(I'm just generalising the situation here, but I do agree that the cops should have a higher presence it troubled areas.)

I didn't say all cops are corrupt. 90% of them are, 10% actually try to make a change for the benefit of people. The 10% are the ones that make a few rightfully arrests. But please, once again, please turn off your high-speed broadband and go ask the real PUBLIC about the police force.

You say I haven't answered your questions? Please GOOGLE IT. If you want to know about the laws of the police, go to google and you can start by reading "Shoot to kill policy." Remember, the Police are apart of the Government and vice versa!

Also, you show posts to a few publicized events the cops were in. This is THEIR JOB to do such things. Who will speak out for the slums? You think news reporters give 1/4th of a bears behind about the slums? No they do not. If you want to know what the police are NOT doing, please...ask the majority of the South African public.

1. As I repeat, I try to avoid police at all costs; since most of them are corrupt, their is a good chance they will try to set me up rather than help me. You have heard this saying before I am sure..."F the police".
2. Yes, the police gang is too big and way out of control. They just pay attention to the rich communities and businesses even though most of their salaries are paid off by the poor and suffering people of this country/continent. I would rather have this gang broken up and further monitored, put a few police stations in the heart of the slums, have the police report back to someone on a weekly basis with what they are doing, what crimes did they solve, how many rapes and abuse cases have they investigated...and post the results to the PUBLIC on a weekly basis. With videos and etc. A revolution is what those slums need.

Crime is increasing in the slums!!

I don't think that would really change anything. As I said, a revolution is probably what is required. Voting for another Government to take power just completes a circle.

I don't want to spill my heart out on these forums but I have relatives and friends in the slums and the police have done some very f'd up things to say the least.

You don't think they want a nice peaceful life, big back yard, kids running and going to school freely? Of course they do! They have the same dreams as you, just different realities.

If you ignore the poor and those suffering, their mind-set starts to mold. They end up trying to fight to get out those slums in ANY MEANS necessary. If any of you have the time or patience, please listen to the great poet and master-mind Tupac. He explains everything about the disadvantaged...

The real criminals can run around FREELY in the slums because cops don't do anything but as soon as those same criminals come out to a city centre block...BOOM cops are on him like ***** on flies.

I never said that, cooperation is required for progress, There have now been a few stories of communities harboring criminals from the police so how can the expect protection from the police then
in some cases the poor see the police as the danger and the gangs as their protection, if they are going to aid the gangs they will be considered criminals choose your side...

This was not something happened randomly, you are right, a lot of slums protect the criminals, but not all of them do. As I said, a lot of them are fed up with the rapes and random fights breaking out at 3AM. The thing is, from my own experience, when cops go to slums on the rare occasions, they are not their to protect but instead to show-off their status, make random arrests for petty crimes(people smoking weed) because they have been paid off by a criminal mastermind to let the real drugs run free(heroin, meth) etc.

I mean, I am telling you guys. Like the people in the slums are living a complete different world to us who have access to broadband, in the slums they don't even have healthy water.

But here is the catch...the slums are the ones who are paying for 70% of the governments funds via taxes! When those people people go and buy anything, all those taxes go right back to the government. So, if the police are not protecting the majority, why should the majority pay for the police? It makes no sense. The police should give back the money they have taken lol but of course that won't happen...you see, it's just a system, someone is losing and someone is winning, sounding familiar? It's because the Government has been doing this for years, here is a direct ex: ---> The Telkom of the slums, the police.

Lol no offense to anyone who lives in Cape Town but this is far from a world class city...far. London is a world class city, NY is a world class city, Tokyo. I can't compare this place to the real world class city, it's 20-30 years behind. But you are right, it is better than JHB and Durban by far and that's why I am here.

and how are they paying these taxes? BTW I am under no illusion on how bad the "slums" as you call them are, having visited 2 myself

Basic Foods are VAT free, certain breads, Maze meal, milk, etc...

thanks to tax brackets people earning big salaries play about half their salary to the government...
