Article: Woolworths boycott backed by shareholders

Had a lovely dinner. Tx woolies.

I had much better salmon from PnP and even Shoprite. Granted WW has nice plastic boxes but the Norwegian salmon tends to taste better from Checkers and PnP. If anyone is wondering, I'm using a TeFal OptiGrill. Best device since I bought my Japanese Toshiba rice steamer.

Watching the parliament ongoings and it seems like the PIC (Public Investment Corporation), who own around 20% of Woolworths and thus their biggest shareholder, might also raise the concerns of BDS. Could be interesting...

Seriously, this is by no means a religious cause. It is one based solely on human rights and international laws.
Hogwash
I see you put the BS in BDS.
The BDS happens to target just Israel, the one and only teeny Jewish state. Out of all the countries in the world, Israel is the focus for sanctions. Not countries with blatant human rights atrocities such as Iran, North Korea, China...oh no, not China,, how could we boycott China, erm no, lets turn a blind eye to Chinese atrocities, and Iran....so what if there is no freedom and thousands of people are executed yearly, lets not mention Syria or Saudi Arabia...no the focus is solely on Israel..please.

The BDS aim is to assist in the elimination of Israel, it is not a movement striving for peace or a solution to the conflict.

“The real aim of BDS is to bring down the state of Israel….That should be stated as an unambiguous goal. There should not be any equivocation on the subject. Justice and freedom for the Palestinians are incompatible with the existence of the state of Israel.”

-As’ad AbuKhalil

actually BDS has slightly broader objectives than the delegitimising (and through that process elimination) of Israel
the goal of BDS is to compel a single state secularist structure in the Palestinian region

There are heavy duty sanctions against Iran. China is good for business and is too strong to boycott. You support Saudi Arabia when you fill up a tank with petrol. North Korea, you're supporting by supporting China and to some extent South Korea as there is co-operation between North and South. Syria, we've already fscked up with our support of moderate extermists who at the end of the day want something like Saudi Arabia in Syria. We've helped create ISIS.

It's exactly this. Muslims wanting the Jewish state to fail.
Anyone who thinks otherwise is an idiot and doesn't understand the in entire or hate from these pricks
The can't use physical terror so they try financial terror tactics

BDS only speaks on behalf of themselves. The bulk of WW shares are held by people with other sentiments that don't agree with BDS. Obviously the BDS angle is purely political and flamed by hatred.

Please supply me with an example?

We make zero money from accessibility features, and are used by almost no one and which cost us a truck load of money to add, but we do it nevertheless because we feel it is the right thing to do

This is not the example you were talking about though

You said, companies often put morals above making a profit. Now with that statement you are saying, Edgars as an example refuses to sell Adidas of Nike takkies because they are made by child labourers. Even though the shoes sell damn well, they pull them from the shelves out of morals?

I'm sorry, I would like to see that.

And the Pro-Israeli crowd are getting their panties in a knot again, lol maybe if they stop fighting anybody that values human rights and starts putting pressure on their beloved Israel to do the right thing and stop the occupation then things will go right for their precious Israel.

I used to love Woolies and buy a lot from them but I don't anymore,I refuse to buy any Israeli produced product until they start treating the Palestinians properly and give them back the occupied lands, after that we can talk business again.I've sent back an entire range of garden products worth hundreds of thousands of Rands to a supplier simply because it was produced in Israel. And that supplier was made well aware of that being the only reason that we rejected their product, its a matter of principle.I cannot in good faith support a country that treats a people of another country/state the way they do.

Well done BDS keep it up,the day Israel gives back the occupied lands is the day I will stop supporting BDS.

many people i know regardless of race condemn to killing of children

Oh please cry me a farking river!

Just about anyone who isn't a psychopath/serial killer would condemn the killing of children but the reality in this case is that when "innocent" palestinian civilians (women in particular) are harboring/housing Hamas pieces of 5h1t, and Israel send a rocket through the window to take out the scum, dead children will unfortunately be the result.

Really? did you condemn the killings of the teenagers by Hamas? Didnt think so

My thoughts exactly.

It's very convenient how muslims get to decide which deaths should be condemned and which shouldn't.

Truth be told: It's the Muslim people in general who are calling it the killing of innocent people. When Hamas sent rockets at Israel it's fine if a few innocent Jews are killed. But when they retaliate - THEY ARE KILLING INNOCENT PEOPLE!!!

I just find it very funny and biased.
