Article: Zuma declines Zille debate request

President Jacob Zuma has turned down a request by DA leader Helen Zille to publicly debate with her on the state of the economy, the presidency said on Monday.

"The presidency sees no need to engage in any exercise that diverts attention from getting stakeholders to work together," presidential spokesman Mac Maharaj said in a statement.

All together now!!! ... COP OUT!

Of course ... because he is politically blind.

He has got a loud mouth. That's it.

He does not stand a chance in all honesty so it's better for him to decline.

No shower head translator found. Debate impossible.

would not be much of a debate .... zuma is no where near the level of zille and there was no chance he would accept the debate as ppl will just see exactly how ridiculous he is

Did anyone expect anything else? Zuma is not that stupid.

Don't be silly - he's speech writer can't write transcripts fast enough for a live debate...

The whole story is ridiculous. Everyone who cares knows that Zuma can barely read and write his own name, let alone have an actual debate, so this is pointless posturing by Zille.

the DA has done this before, offering the ANC trucks to deliver the textbooks during the textbook saga. the DA is clever and only chips in when they know it's a win-win either way. they either take the help and look bad, or they refuse it and continue to look bad.

the same with this debate. anyone with any sense knew that Zuma was not going to accept it, but i hope people have enough sense to see that this is anotehr win-win for the DA. the DA is a decent political party, but this is a sly move on their part. they take any opportunity to make the ANC look bad.

i'm not defending the ANC, i just hate smug people in general when they're not much better

Is she failing to debate with him in Parliament ? i think she is just pushing her unknown agenda to boost her party.

In most countries debates are common amongst the competing parties to show which political party policies sound more efficient and effective. Unfortunately the ANC actually does not have any policies (besides stealing as much as they can) and therefore they would not be able to debate any topics.

But the fact that you have already claimed this as a win-win situation for the DA means you already know this ;)
