Hi, Guys!

I have an ATI 4870 x2 that after endless stuggle got windows 7 64bit to boot with. The card got really hot before even entering windows - It was bsod after bsod but I fixed it after hours of updating firmware, changing settings, save mode boots, driver reinstalls etc etc. ! :) That being said -my problems arent over. Are they ever?

Running the latest drivers 10.6 with Battlefield Bad company 2 and then checking GPU-z - it is obvious that only one core is taking the load. When I enable A.I. advanced or standard the Gpu load on the second GPU ranges from 0% -5% in short burst.

Further more when I insert my other 4870 single card to run the setup in 4870 x2 + 4870 crossfire the problem persists.

4870 x2
Core 1: 90-100% load
Core 2: 0-5% load

4870
Core 1: No load.

Crossfire is detected by CCC and enable with no problems.

I can see all the cores clock up in GPU-z from 500Mhz to 750Mhz when entering games because of the ATI drivers overdrive but there is just no load on ther other GPUs.

Any advise? :wtf:

My system:

AMD 965 BE
MSI 790FX platinum Mobo
4GB g-skill ddr 2 1066
4870 x 2 2GB
4870 1 GB
Windows 7 ultimate 64 bit
PSU Corsair Professional 750W

May be do benchies to see if your xfire setup is working or not? Maybe GPU-z isn't reporting correctly?

Doubt it - only getting 35 fps in battlefield thats the same as when I only had the single 4870 card in the rig.

I think he actually means furmark as he says. Google it.
I have a similar setup Myboom, so if you want to compare FPS just let me know.

Ok, so installed 3dmark vantage and run the demo. P16600 plus minus if I remeber. I also had GPu-z running in the background and it showed some gpu load on the other gpus. The load isnt constant like the primary card?

This also means that Battlefield doesnt recognise my other gpus?

Any suggestions.

Atleast I know the hardware is fine.

That score sound about right for your setup. The only other thing I can think of, is that BF:BC2 doesn't support multi gpu's (which is unlikely) or you have to enable
it somewhere in the game to support it, like in COD, under option, you can enable dual gpu support.

Have you tried googling for this? I just want to know, so that if you haven't we can help you search google for something.

Don't use the 10.6 drivers. Get 10.4

I got terrible performance with the 10.5 and 10.6 drivers with my 4870x2. Stick to 10.4 till 10.7 is released

Also, uninstall the current drivers then install the new ones else you'll get a bsod

Ok!

So it seems you cant add a gfx card after installing the drivers. The drivers have to be installed when all hardware is connected.

Trifire working like a dream on BF BC2 ( constant 60fps @ 1900x1200 AA 8x and AF 16x) :D . Using 10.5 drivers after rolling back from 10.6 - will try the 10.4 thingy tonight.

Thanks for the input.

Will reply on the 10.4 issue
