ATI 5850 with Intel Q9550

Not really considering 3dmark loves cpu power, if i used his same card and put in some 5.0ghz overclocked intel he would get 30k what has that proven in 3dmark other than your cpu score is high. Your theory is if 3dmark benefits from more cpu power FC 2 will as well which i cannot refute but i highly doubt it

A 965 will score lower in 3dmark but it will not score 20FPS lower in a game, possibly 1 or 2 maybe 5 at best but 20?

we testing with 3dmark AND farcry 2 demo. As I upped the OC the 3dmark AND farcry2 FPS went up and up... I dont really give a **** about 3dmark UNLESS its telling me that Im also losing out on realtime in game performance... which is the case here

/picks brain

2.83 I was getting +- 40FPS average
3.3 I was getting +- 55FPS average

1920x1200 ultra high settings, no AA

on brawlers PC @ 3.4 (stock) were getting +- 60 FPS

so I reckon mine on 3.4 would be about the same as his on his stock 3.4.

im VERY curious to see what happens when he bumps up his to 3.6

I think he is going to get a performance boost... watch this space... :)
 
Very interesting! My LCDTV cant do 1280x1024 so IT changed the resolution on 3dmark to 1280x768.. and this is on the trial version that doesn't allow any system changes.. anyway..

yeah didnt think it would make that big a difference to be honest... pump that BE dude, or at least take it to 3.5 xD LOL
 
That looks fine - cpu coolers are much of a muchness to me, very much down to personal aesthetic preference. The CM212 is a good bet but it's pretty massive. Or a DuOrb perhaps?

maybe to you, but they are a vital component of keeping a system cool. a cool cpu is happy cpu :)

ive done a lot of reading on the net about coolers, and size often doesn mean a whole lot... unlike some other things! ;) lol

Ive got the 120 true black which just happens to be really big, and does an awesome job.. but before you buy, google for a review.

Brawler, would you like to buy mine? Ive still got the box, amd bracket everything. Will even toss in that 120mm fan! :)
 
Now if cpu cooling means so much why would you go and sell such an awesome model?

hmm maybe.. if I can come test it, if it fits and cools nicely then ok.

and yeah my CM690 isn't too huge but it is still quite a big case...
