I'm looking to get fibre from a reliable and low(er) cost ISP in Cape Town. I'm happy with the service we're getting from Cool Ideas in Joburg, and we're not going to be in Cape Town more than a few times a year. The guy who is installing gigabit ethernet during the renovation recommends them.

I can only find threads that are years old on this ISP. What are people's experiences?

Well i personally am Vumatel and CISP and my price for our 100/100 line is cheaper than theirs so my first question is are they actually low(er) cost?

They (Atomic) have a referral programme so of course if someone is with them they going to want that juicy discount

I've also been really happy with them. Connection has been solid. They provide great support and quick to update on any issues found.

As mentioned above they do have a referral discount, let me know if I can pm you my details :D

Have used Atomic for over two years now and have had no issues with their support and the times I had issues with the fibre line it was Octotel at fault but Atomic got the issue escalated and sorted out quicker than other ISP's I have dealt with. Working in the support business myself and having to make contact with multiple ISP's every day I struggle to find any other ISP big or small that can compare. Have referred many a client and have never once asked for the referral discount and still pay the normal price everyone else pays. I am more concerned about people getting the best support as I got burnt many a time by Webafrica and Afrihost.

Thanks all for the responses. My only qualms now are that they seem to want a 24 month contract, and I really prefer month to month.
But on the other hand they did contact Octotel to check up that the fibre connection is functional, so that is good. Will also double-check pricing. Vumatel and Cool Ideas are pricey in Joburg, but the service from CI has been pretty good

I am with Atomic for almost a year, no issues thus far, the only regret I have with them is that I did not take the free router upon signing up, this came back to haunt me as my router started misbehaving a few months after and when I asked about the free router midway they gave me the finger lol.

Quick question, what kind of international latency does AA get? I'm looking for a new isp but my concern is the ping.

Friend of mine gets about 148ms to EUW with cybersmart.

Gimme an IP or something and I can do a test for you.

Thank you for taking the time, this should consolidate it nicely.

Just "select all" and then click "PING" please

Alternatively, here is the list of ip addresses although I suspect the firewalls are blocking pings.

North America (NA)104.160.131.3
Europe (EUW)104.160.141.3
Australia104.160.156.1
Latin America (LAN)104.160.136.3

Nah League is RIOT they peer in London
Then should be based on latency on the cable system? We already peer with riot so what does a trace look like?

RIOTS network from UK onwards is hidden so the last hop you see is the peer in UK, you guys hit it at 145 to 147ms from CT

This is the garbage I'm currently sitting with.
These are HTML pings and are majority of the time very very inaccurate

I wish Riot would reconsider ZA for a server, I know our scene is not as big as NA or EUW but upwards of 100ms in game kinda sucks.

Just quick feedback: Atomic does run month to month (no contract lock-in). I had my fibre installed very neatly inside, went live and tested fine.

Only problem is they didn't have a ladder tall enough to secure the fibre (outside the flat) in conduit all the way up.

Have mailed the issue with pictures to support - hope the Octotel guys can finish the job soonish, given the hectic weather in the Cape recently.

Very happy with Atomic so far
