VW quoted me R43000 to replace the turbo in my 1.9TDI
Thanks, will definitely take out a warranty then.Anything obvious to the eye which could give me any clue if somethings wrong with it perhaps?
Probably some ****ty Opel knowing Rouxenator.
Loved my old A3, though be aware that the turbo can bite you in the arse, same thing with stronic if it goes wrong.
A3 2 TFSI is fairly rapid, and a real step up from a Golf. Do it.
Sporty?
The A3 2.0T is an awesome car, I much prefer it over the Gti has that is too common. You get more or less the same features if you look hard enough . I have a 2.0T, out of warranty just under 130000Km, the engine still runs perfectly. If you are worried about the turbo going just have a few grand saved up and send it to somewhere like turbo clinic.
Not to the eye. But take it for a spin... or rather take one you know is okay and see how the lag feels; then take that one for a spin, if it feels in anyway sluggish have it checked first. Power loss is the most obvious sign something is awry, but it may just require a minor repair such as a new seal.
At 3000 rpm you should notice a considerable boost in power, much akin to going to warp speed![]()
Note, the VAG turbos are quite small and you may not hear the pop-pop you associate with Subaru turbos - if you listen carefully you might notice a hiss changing gears, but nothing to get excited aboutAlso a slight whistle when driving with the window open is quite normal, it's just the turbo spinning on it's merry way.
Hi guys, thought I'd revive this thread.
Was initially looking at a Volvo C30 T5 but nearly cried when some of my insurance quotes were over 3K
So I'm now looking at the 2.0T sportback 2005-2008. Only problem is that I'm 22 and the insurers want to shaft me beeg time :wtf:
I can't be paying between 2-3k just on "yourecoveredincasebig****happens"![]()
Anyone know where/how I can get a good insurance deal?
I'll be doing everything on my own so parents wont be an option.

One of my staff members just bought a 2014 polo vivo, he is 29 and his insurance is R2k a month.
1. Get a broker.
2. Get a more reasonable car for your age.
im 23 first car i bought last month( atos prime 2008) , neg with santam for R350 a month with R2500 access , will be neg to R0 access when im 25
2k a month for vivo is insane , really did not know it was that much , knew it was high risk.

Atos is low risk because not even the 'jackers would be seen in them...it's a matter of pride you know...

But that's because it's a high risk vehicle.
