Audi or Mazda... Can't decide! Please help!

Get the Mazda. That 1.6tdi in the Audi is nice to have but that's the only point towards the Audi. So get the Mazda

Mazda wins by a clear majority. That Audi will be in the "Audi consuming too much oil" thread if you buy it, stay away from cars which appears in such threads.

The oil problem relates to the petrol versions, not the diesel.

If a car is just a transportation appliance for you, then get the views of others and follow the best advice.

On the other hand, if you like cars and take pleasure in driving and machinery, then go with what appeals to you, follow your gut/heart, and ignore what others say.

I've heard from a few people now to rather stay away from older Audis. Services are going to be very costly and when something breaks it's not going to be fun.

The Mazda 2 is a great car, have one myself. I went for the individual model, slightly more expensive but the inside trim is a lot nicer and better looking rims.

She's a beaut in the white

They can always get a Hollard Motor Extender Policy, the highest plan includes R1500 towards a service 2 times a year.

Go for the Audi. Only if you are buying another car in 5 years time though.

Services are only expensive if you keep going dealers.

**** breaking is pretty uniform across brands. All depending on what breaks of course.

I would hardly call a 2013 “older” either.

The choice of a car is an emotional one.

If it wasn't, we'd all buy Toyota Corollas and be done with it.

Just start by listing what you want in a car, and consider which car you will still enjoy seeing in your driveway in two years or more.

Mazda and Audi are very different car brands, so which appeals more to you? Don't look to anybody else to tell you how to feel, because they're not gonna be the ones helping you deal with the regret of not going with your first choice.

Not for everyone.
A lot of people just want a car to get them from A to B, and is safe and dependable.

Did you not read my second line? :P

Also, 'safe and dependable' evokes emotions, does it not? The feeling of comfort, of security, of confidence .. but now we're going too far down the rabbit hole.

Go Mazda. Will cost you a lot less in the long run. Besides for the premium badge, not really getting that much more car for your $.

Mazda no question about it. The Audi is expensive and it's am A1, it's like buying Noddies car, nevermind the resale value and cost of ownership will be horrendous in comparison.
